View Full Version : I've joined the Brit-bike revolution
Here's some pictures of my new toy glistening in the sunshine, a 2006 plate Triumph Speed Four.
Needs a bit of "personalising" I feel, but I need to get saving first, however, one of the top things on the list is a hugger to protect the shock. I love it, and feel like I'm 7 again and it's Christmas morning. :D

check wear on the chain strip nearest to the front sprocket, TT6/S4s were well known to have not very good rubber and it would eat the swingarm.
Otherwise a good bike, i had the TT600 version of that, very peeky engine with not lots of midrange. Sounds way better with a race can on it. Brakes are very very good.
Just a note do not start the bike with the throttle turned as the ECU gets confused and somtimes uses the open position as what it thinks should be closed.
Cheers, I'd noted the chain situation, do you know if a bigger front sprocket makes any difference? I'll take heed of your pointer about starting the bike too, wouldn't want the bike revving it's nuts off when I get up early morning for work commute
As for race can, I've got my eye on a Beowulf can as they sound nice, well priced, and lifetime guarantee. At current, the can on it isn't "standard" though, it's been cut shorter and has been de-baffled and put back together (by my brother, who's also got a Speed4) so sounds pretty fruity :D

Based on the year of yr bike it should be fitted with the correct config 15/45, but somtimes when people change them they are given the 14/42 config instead. The early TT600/S4 were specked with the 14/42 but later changed to 15/45 but was not retroactivly applied, but is recomended to always go with 15/45 for all TT600/S4 variants, also there is a newer part number for the chain strip that is made of harder rubber, but dont know if that was fitted to the later bikes.

Went Saturday morning, I will have been on way home Friday. Shame to see the back of the SV, but I wasn't sad for long after a blast on the new bike :D

Very nice machine, a mate of mine in Cleckheaton has one in the same colour, and the similarity to my naked yellow curvy is quite striking when parked together........

ooo c'est tres bon...nice colour too, always good to see a nice shade of yellow;-)
's OK for a Brit bike:cool:
Had a serious look at them before my D675. Apparently the last of the Fours are very underated and are superb bikes for the money. I think there is a little review of them in "Bike" as the parent of the Striple. Nowt but good things to say about them.

oooh saw you on the by pass tonight just heading off to bradford! lloked good if a bit mustard
Nice bikes, they go well for a naked 600.
To add to TSM's advice, don't use the kill switch to turn the engine off as a normal thing, use it only in emergencies. It can screw the ECU if you do use it. My 955i was the same and it required three ignition starts and a trip to the dealer to turn the EM light out every time it happened - all Triumphs are like that, even the latest 675s.

Cheers for this, I'd gotten into a bit of a habit using it with previous bikes. I still use it now and again to make sure it works (as I'd like to know it'd work in an emergency!) but after having read the manual which said the same thing, I make sure I use key pretty much all the time.
looked good if a bit mustard
Yeah it's still a bit plain yellow for my liking too, need to get some graphics sorted I think!!

dont get me wrong.. I think it looks great..
what are you thinking of?
I don't know yet, possibly some stripe arrangement and some black and white union jack bits, but not decided on any designs as yet as I want it to look better, not worse :D
I also don't want it to look like a Ducati copy with the stripes, so I'll just keep playing around with some designs in the meantime.

electrical tape... thats quite cheap....and black.. that would work for the stripes..

Yeah, I could use black Duck tape for a slightly wider stripe too in some sort of triple stripe arrangement, mint.
