View Full Version : What's the smallest van a motorbike fits in?
Can I hire a transit Connect or do I need a real transit?
Cheers :)
Transit connect = No.
Vauxhall combo you can get a full fairing pointy SV in (I know).
DD got one motorbike into his old small rubbishy van. Peugeot Expert??? So any around that size.
You should be able to get two bikes in a Peugeot Expert. Same body as a Fiat Scudo, and I used to cart a fully faired RD350LC and an RD250 around in my old one with plenty of room to spare. A Kawasaki KR-1 will fit corner to corner in a 1996 Vauxhall Combo van if you remove the fairing, without having to take the front wheel out.

Depends on the bike ;)
But surely this is an easy one to solve? What is the height, length and width of the bike and what is the internal dimensions of a transit Connect (and its competitors)??? ;)

Why are you hiring a van Stu.... tell all!
Yes. Tell all
(or I'll continue to post unhelpul comments....)
You can fit a ped on the back of a Caravan dontcha know....
I find actually riding a motorbike far too scary these days so I'm going to put it inside a van, rip out the drivers seat, sit on the bike & drive the van like that :^o
Monkey bike in the back of an Astra...

Suzuki SV650 Dimensions:
Overall Length: 2120 mm (83.5 in.)
Overall Width: 790 mm (31.1 in.)
Overall Height: 1030 mm (40.6 in.)
So assuming the height is Ok, an SV650 for example would fit ... (with the vans seat down)
I work for Ford and had the opportunity to get a Connect cheap to cart the stunt bike in, and my highly streetfightered (read, everything missing) had no hope in hell of getting in there without major struggles.
They do make a LWB version of the connect, which you could possibly get a small bike into, but the door height is the thing that messes you up. You have a large lip you need to get the bike under before it'll sit in the van nicely.

I managed to fit an SV in my escort estate.
As Law said I had a Peugeot expert (same as a citroen dispatch and a fiat scudo) fitted it in an SV no problem

If you are hiring a van, the price won't be much different for a Transit sized vehicle. I hire out Citroen Relays for £45 for the day (inc Insurance & VAT). A Citroen Berlingo is £34. I know which one I would go for :)
