..about motorbike gear in general.
Does anyone else on here find that the ladies sizes available (for both leathers and textiles) come up ridicolously small?? Now im not what you would call fat/big (im size 8-10) but I struggle to fit in ladies wear. i.e the small & medium is too small and the large is too big. My alpinestars bat jeans are size 12 and ive now decided that they are way too small around the waist but too baggy in the leg.
Bought some textiles today (spada pants & buffallo jacket) in a small mens because I felt like I couldn't breathe in the ladies kit. They also fit really strangely around the hips and bum (or as the sales man put it "they do make you look rather erm...voluptous")
Just wondered if any of the other ladies on here found the same thing or if Im being a fusspot :D
Oh, and if any of the guys would like to add their experiences of finding right fitting kit, feel free!
Maria
I know what you mean but the problem I find is that they don't do ladies leathers/textiles small enough . I am a size 4 ladies. I managed to find one set of Dainese textiles that fit :D. I am thinking about having some made to measure and no an 8-10 is not big at all ...
I know what you mean...........
My leather trousers are from the male section as i was up to 2 sizes up in the females before they were getting close to fitting!!!!!! The sales guy told me to try the males on found the right waist size to my normal size of clothes and they fitted straight away!!!!!
funny that. iv often thought about trying ladies gear to see if it fits better than the blokes stuff  im a bit slight of frame and even the small stuff doesnt fit how i want it too

:D
Maybe it depends on the brand. I've found that Richa stuff fits me fine (and in the right size).

My first set I had problems was size 12, had to get size 14 trousers and jacket.
Then went down to size 10 n got Hein and Gericke set they fit a treat, no problems in any areas. :) now on the hunt for another new set as new RED SV :D

different brands seem to come in completely different shapes and sizes - HG stuff swamped me, A* is just an odd shape ( just seems to be the blokes stuff sized down rather than cut for girls), but my dainese 2-pieces and richa trousers fitted perfectly until I put on a stone .
try on lots of stuff, and go see Jo in Highgate!

all too short are leather pants. The only ones that fit my long legs are my Richa textiles and my draggin jeans, but the draggins are on the long side. Both sets of leathers are too short and the zips burst...I'm hardly porky! I ended up buying taller boots
Ive found hein gericke or a* are great fits (had hg and now have a*), also look for girlsbike2 clothing.
its a case of shopping around. the bike shop sizes and styles vary just like in normal shops. Im definitely not one of the slim, slight, skinny varieties and have problems getting stuff in the shop as they only ever seem to stock up to size 14.
Ive got 2 piece leathers from hein gerick but they are not a set but do zip together. The NEC is coming up soon might be worth paying a visit and trying on loads of different makes.
good luck. If you find maternity leathers give me a shout :p
Pretty much what others have said - ie it's a case of trying on lots of different brands and styles. It's why I'd never buy anything from e-bay or from an online store.
A visit to Jo's (Shop Addict) GirlsBike2 shop in north London is certainly worth it: http://www.girlsbike2.com/site/northlondon.asp
There's one in Dorking too.
I've always found the difficult thing about going to the main bike gear shops is that their range of women's clothing is so limited.
Its not exclusive to women.
I tried on about 10 pairs of leather trousers before I found some that fitted nicely, and even then I had to pay to get them shortened!
Its worth the effort though because if you get something that doesn't fit properly odds are it will live in the garage and you'll go out in your jeans.

+1. My winter pants are a set of Rev'it textiles which technically don't fit right. Waist-wise and armour-wise, they're perfect, everything sits where it's supposed to nice and snug. They're just about 2 inches too short and sometimes ride up to about 3/4 of the way up my boots on long rides.

I could barely get into my Belstaff leather trousers when I first got them, needed to do a lot of breathing in lol despite them being a 10 (am a 8-10 in normal clothes)! But being leather I figured they'd mould alright and now they fit me great, although getting a bit worn on the derriere now
Being a student though I don't tend to buy much stuff new, in fact only my gloves and lid were bought new so I wouldn't know much about sizes in shops...

Im with "stoppy!"
my last set of leather trousers were womans as they didnt make men sizes small enough for a decent price, but who really cares if it fits.

I had major probs getting leathers to fit, I was trying them on and 2 sized above what I am were not fitting.
Tried on some RST and they are one size above what I am in normal clothes and fit perfectly. So I purhcased and they was a bargain. Richa are too small in thigh area but fit round waist. Mmmmm must stop eating too much choccy !
I was finding the trousers too narrow around the waist but Panzer division in the thigh department - but that was ages ago haven't shopped recently & seems to be more out there now than when I gave up.

Hideout do made to measure and can customise existing pairs in store. I'm size 8 - 10 and although only 5'2" have long legs so I'm having mine made longer.
They also did me a jacket narrow across the shoulders for my petite frame but big enough to fit my bosoms!
At the opposite end of the scale they custom made a suit for my female friend who is 6'2" tall with the longest legs you've ever seen.

I have large thighs compared to the rest of me and always have a problem buying any kind of clothes, so I ALWAYS have to try stuff on. My biggest problem with trying to get my trousers though was it was so damn hot and everytime I went into changing rooms I started getting all clammy so they were sticking to me making it really hard to try them on lol Finally got a pair of Buffalo textiles with leather patches on the important bits and they fit a treat, I'd even say I've got a little room in the legs which is something i'm not used to!! Jackets however are a complete hit and miss due to having to allow for the boobage
