Its my Senior CLM mate (once completed i get to wear the 3rd stripe). just want as many good bits of kit as possible to make life a bit eaiser.

Well they do say on the admin instruction to bring anything that willl make the exersise phase more bearable. I think NVG's fall into that given night patrols and OP's etc.

Oh and i have been to your HQ once to do a project my place was installing across the country.

To be fair they are not essential to the course, more of a nice to have if i can get some. But if i can get some good spec ones from DD etc then they will make life a hell of a lot eiser. and have the instructors quessing why i am able to operate so well at night:D.

Where they are required on Ops at night they are genurally avalible and issued to the troops.

TBH this media hype of troops buying kit that should be provided has been blown out of proportion a bit. Yes sometimes there are things missing and its wrong to be sent to do a job with stuff missing. But troops have always boought their own kit for a multitude of reasons, from better looks to better longevity etc. Sometimes the civi equivilant is better put toghther and smaller or lighter. It comes at a cost but personallyi dont mind buying a few bits of 'Gucchi' kit to make my life in the field eaiser.

For example i have bought my own aftermarket boots if you like. not because the Army wont provide me with any, but because they are more comfy, and waterproof. They wont give me blisters on long TAB or boot run. they are like slippers compared to the issued ones.

No, I can shoot straight for a start.....

For CT work we are trussed up in sorts of gear, depending on the situation depends on the kit. The point is to be prepared for anything....

We all buy our own boots here, far better than standard issue. I personally have a few of my own pieces of kit, gloves for a start.

If you're still looking I have a pair of Gen2+, nothing amazing but with the built in IR and a hand held IR Light they've served me well.

They are flip up head mounted Binos, not got the helmet mount for 'em I'm afraid but the rig fits OK under a hat or beanie.

Will be happy to lend 'em to ya if you need as they are gathering dust at mo.
Tiny dot in the centre of each lense where some bugger got me with a 2million candela floodlight leaving me screaching on the floor like something out of aliens (no automatic shut off!) but you'll hardly notice it =p, just stay away from very bright lights =p
