I use it for general cleaning, but I much prefer GT85 for lubrication, it smells so much nicer

No. Brake cleaner for cleaning. Proper oil or grease for where oil or grease is required.

It doesn't really work for proper cleaning, it doesn't work as a penetrant oil, and it's a naff lubricant. I use it very rarely, for cleaning stuff that carb or brake cleaner might eat.

agreed.. I use degreaser to shift old oil and grease... and white lube for bits that needs lubing , scotoiler for the chain and Heingericke's version of muck off for the rest...

oh and a high (ish) pressure hose...

Love GT85. Motorbikes, bicycles, garden gate, door lock, letter box...

Basically I put it on everything except my cornflakes. And I'm working on that.

The WD40 stands for Water Displacement 40th Formula and it's lubricating properties are incidental. The weirdest use has to be on nightclub toilets - it dissolves cocaine apparently!

It is amazing what you can learn on here.

Next time I have to clean cocaine off the coffee table after one of our little parties.

Any idea how to clean speed off of the cat? :smt016 :smt101

I use a lot, but hardly on the bike though as other specific products do better jobs.

Used to be called Rocket WD40. in the '70's and had a Blue & Yellow Rocket on the side of the tin, Was created by NASA, to displace moisture from the nose of Rockets/missiles which had a detremental effect on the course the rocket travelled when exiting the earth's atmosphere WD - Water Displacement 40 - 40th attempt at solving the problem..........

So legend goes.........

Apparently you can keep slugs off your plants by squirting WD on the plantpots...or stop your mirrors steaming up in the bathroom by wiping them with it,
I'll just use it for covering my bike in, in winter, or cleaning the chain fling off the wheels

I use it as a cleaner, because it's so cheap- got 3 big aerosols for £3 from Costco a while back, that'll last forever. It's just a handy cleaner really, paraffin in a can, it's crap at everything else but then sometimes what you want is something that does loads of things very badly ;)
