Ok, this isn't the road I got caught on, but it's not what I'd call a good omen for my day in court tomorrow.

It's 10am tomorrow - I was clocked at 101, downhill after pulling in from an overtake. My only thread of hope is that the Police put in their report that I'd already returned to 60 by the tie they caught and followed me.
I was doing fine all week about this until I read that article on the BBC site. That's really scunnered me that.

Dont worry about it - at least youre not losing it through illness and you know you will get it back eventually.............sorry to sound harsh but you had the choice - many of us dont..........................
I'll shut up now....hope its not too bad an outcome anyway

Hey, you're right - it's my own fault. It wasn't deliberate, BUT noone else 'made me' do it.
If I'd have been going for it (like, let's face it, we've all done at some point), then I'd have held my hands up even further, but it was an overtake, quick Blip Up, quick Roll Down.
We'll just have to see what mood the good Sheriff's in tomorrow, just hope his wife's in a better mood tonight eh!? :smt058
I think it's finally sinking in now that's all.

Eeek, good luck dude. You might not loose your whole licence, probs just get points and a fine. Were you clocked by a speed camera or the police? If the police, did they see you overtake and get down to speed or did they only clock you when you were going quick?
Try Think positively..and wear a good suit

It was the Police, and yeah they watched the overtake (hidden behind bushes at the sound of the road... ) and they've at least mentioned in the citation that I was already back ay 60pmh by the time they caught up with me.
I'm no lawyer but I wouldn't expect a ban of I was you. But a big fine might hurt.
Good luck. Beg the judge if you have to. 5 minutes looking daft pleading is much better than losing your licence.
Good luck for tomorrow, do you have any points at the mo? If not I think you could be more hopeful.
If you have, then sorry for shedding more doom.
Fingers crossed anyhow.

License is currently clean, I've written proper grovelling letter, and got it backed up by a letter from work. Over to 'the man' now, which is the bit I hate most I think!
Thanks folks btw!

Sorry if I sounded a bit narky...I didnt mean to make you feel worse - just re-read what I said - I just get a bit bitter and twisted about what happened to me
Im keeping everything crossed for you, hope it's just a fine and a few points - or better still none![-o<

He's probably having to walk home. ;) Sorry.
Hope that isn't the case as we all have moments where we gun it. Just unlucky to be caught up in a bit of a PR stunt.

Well, that went better than I'd expected. Looks like the weeks of preperation, one hell of a grovelling letter, smart suit, IAM training, letter from the boss-man and general wobbling of the bottom lip all paid off.
End result, 6 points and a £400 fine. Both of which were reduced by a third from their original 9/£600 due to my early guilty plea.
The fine's a sore one, but I'd have taken that result beforehand to keep my license, really relieved about it as much as anything else.
Thanks for gee'ing up folks, it was nice to have a bit of backing (even though I've never met most of you!) going into this!
Pheeeeeeeeeeeeew!! That makes the next few weeks/months an awful lot easier than I'd anticipated.
9 points for 101mph, with no previous convictions.......are they having a laugh, never heard anything like that before, infact I'm pretty sure legally they cant even do that.

they can take your license away for 30mph above any limit.

They obviously took exception to him riding a *onda!
Glad you were relatively OK :)

They can but I have never seen a bit of caselaw where someone has been given more than 6 points for such a pathetic amount of speeding (Even with a ban), infact it would have probably been an easy appeal......thousands of similar cases '6 points and a fine'........ number of similar cases with more than 6 'none'......if it cant be justified its an easy win.

true...
I personally think its one of those repeat offender things, one time you get 6 points, leave a few years do it again, loose it for a few weeks, I have heard of sittuations where car and bikes caught on the motorway doing a ton plus have it suspended for a few weeks ...
I would have only hoped that he would get 6 points as your right, that does seem the prefered punishemnt.. we mostly know its the fine that hurts...

So we'll see you on the Aviemore run in a couple of weeks but just don't expect you to get the round in?
Fair enough. Looking forward to the whole gory, drink exagerated tale. :D
