View Full Version : Sad day for me.
One of my oldest and closest friends died last night from Hodgkins Lymphoma, she was only 47 years old and had been suffering for quite a few years. At least now she's not in pain, but I'm pretty cut up about this, more than I usually get when friends of mine die.
I'm going off for a cry on the sofa.
RIP Becky Morgan, you were a sweetie for every one of the 40 years I called you my friend.

sorry for your loss lozzo mate,
i wont pretend to know what Hodgkins Lymphoma is......but as u said..no longer in pain.......
i find it helps to be thankful that u knew someone rather than sorry they are gone....
my thoughts are with you....
Sorry to hear that :( I have a firend who had this, luckily they caught it relatively early so the survival rate was very very good.

Sad news, take care Lozzo
cry as much as you need, and just remember how good that person was to you.
Becks was an angel. 3 years ago I suffered a stroke and lost a lot of memory as a result. I used to ask Becks to tell me things in the hope that memories would be rekindled, which some were. During my recovery I'd go and visit her as she was already quite ill and had given up working. We'd joke about what a pair of worn out old codgers we'd become well before our time and help each other do the things we found difficult - she used to tie my shoe-laces for me because my left hand wouldn't work, and I'd help her upstairs to the bathroom. One day we were talking as usual and I asked her to flip some memories of our younger days across, she said "You don't want those, you had a **** time as a child and I don't want you reliving it again until you're ready to deal with it". Later on the memories came back, she was right and I thanked her for saving me the pain of finding out when I wasn't ready to accept it.
40 years and never a cross word. No doubt everyone has seen "When Harry met Sally", well the relationship me and Becks had was proof that two people of opposite sexes can have a great relationship without sleeping with each other, or ever wanting to. We went through 3 schools in 9 years, college, work, marriages, kids, divorces and breakups, illnesses and everything together. She was my stability in times of trouble, and I can only hope I offered her somewhere near the support she gave me when times were tough for her.
I've had my time crying on the sofa and tonight I'll be lifting a glass in her memory. My memories of Becky are all good and I'll miss her more than anyone I have ever met.
Thanks to everyone who's responded and sent pms, it's really appreciated and all helped.

True friends like that are rare indeed...And almost always impossible to replace that void they leave behind in your life.
Sorry for your loss :(
RIP Becky
Prayers for the friends and family.
Oh man I really feel for you Lozzo. Such true friends can come to mean more than family, for they are never beholden to a bond of blood or even marriage; everything you share is a truely free choice and so much more precious for it.
To have had such a long time knowing each other, I can honestly say I feel one of those rare touches of envy. May she carry you through the next forty years, even if it is only in memory.
