View Full Version : Had a go on a 33bhp curvy
And it was HORRIBLE.
Took Wideboys Curvy out for a spin yesterday and it was absolutly horrid.
Not the bike of course ,but the power that it put out.How do you lot put up with it for 2 yrs.
I kept waiting ...and waiting ...and waiting for the power to kick in but it just didnt .
And to make it worse he kept coming past on mine and waving.
I cant ride on one for a long distance (dodgy arm) but it felt sooo good to have a blast(bimble) on the old jelly mould

When its all you've known, its alot.
But yea, I wouldnt go back now. I'm starting to think that my SV isnt quite enough now as full power...I'd like a nice tourqey 1000cc twin

 I remember telling you that's how you'd feel. Hungry for more.
I have to say though, I "rode" a naked SV today (well, moved it into the back garden & then back out later), full power version as far as I know, and that was a horrid feeling. There's just nothing in front of you, and the front end feels so light!!

You soon get used to any power bike you have.......when I first got the 600rr I thought there was no way I could ever use it all and feel comfortable, or that I would ever feel the need for a little bit more......quite fancy a HRC blade now though :-dd

The Sv650 is my first bike really, and had it for a week before getting it nuted to a kinder egg standard, and at first I was going down the dual carriage way screaming behind my helmet, then when restricted was like... hmmm
The change is dramatic with being restricted! Even to us new riders :o

I'll tell anyone who listens, if your happy with your sv, don't ride a modern SS600. To quote Law "My SV feels like a vibey cruiser now" :D

Spot on mate-went back to the sv and it felt heavy, slow, and most of all aged-i couldn't believe how light and responsive the 600 was-i know whats gonna happen come summer time-gonna need to hit the o/t !

yeah but wait untill you use the bike solid for a day, like 300+ miles begins to feel sluggish
embarrassing thing is my car is more pokey at 85+ than my bike :(

It's a bit unfair to put up a thread saying restricted bikes are bad when it's one perticular bike with running problems that you're basing it on :???:
I really didn't mind my bike when it came restricted. Loved it more than my full power bandit as acceleration was better, just top end restricted to 108.

VTR SP2 always springs to mind :D
Mine seems pokey enough for me. Get's to 90 pretty sharpish!
22months and the ecu can be swapped! :)

My mum's partner rides a VTR 1000, not sure if SP2 though. It is damn loud with dual straight throughs, no baffles. He's just changed from a cbr 600 and so far seems to prefer the VTR.
Can just about see it in this photo. http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v356/163/57/589283511/n589283511_995347_988.jpg

SV's feel a strangled in the upper rev range when restricted, still far better to ride than an IL4 or a 125cc.

I had a few sneaky rides on my SV in full power when I bought it...kinda regret it now. It just feels so lifeless in comparison now it only has 33bhp. Ah well, I'm just over halfway through my restriction limit now...359 days left to go!
