I typically refuel shortly after the petrol light starts to flash, i.e. 4L limit (pointy). But how many miles on average do you get before the light stays on perminently?

Mine comes on permanently first. I assumed that it started flashing when it was getting really low but I always fill up soon after it comes on. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they reversed the sequence at some point in from flashing-permanent to permanent-flashing or vice versa... either that or mine doesn't work properly.

According to the handbook, the light begins to flash at 4 litres and goes solid at 1.5 litres so I would guess you are going to get around 15/20 miles before it conks out on you

This would explain it:

Mine's a K4 and has never flashed, only appears to come on solid.

Last night my light came on solid at around 140 miles, filled up having done another 11 miles beyond that, i.e. 151 miles. Still only managed to fit 12.6 litres in it (55mpg, woo hoo).

K4 or late registered K3?

Picked up my K6 on saturday and light was flashing...rode 15 miles and put in 12.6 L of fuel (so light goes on with about 6 L left). Rode it to work and back and the light started flashing at 135 miles and went solid at 160. Filled up at 178 and put 15.6 L in.
Rode to work today light started flashing at 130....nail in 600 mile old rear tyre...repaired...solid light at 153...still to fill up.

Mines a K3, does'nt flash as such, comes on goes off comes back on etc.

Maybe 10 miles after 1st seeing the light its then on solid but I am generally making decent progress when out.

Wish I could get somewhere near the mileage others get to a tank of juice but then I probably wouldn't have as much fun, lol.

Definitely a K4 (at least according to the service book and all the parts I've fitted). Registered in 2005.

Had this happen Twice, and on my Curvy it's just over 20 miles (admitedly riding like a geriatric Vicar).....

I've get about 30 miles out of mine before it goes onto a solid light.

I get around 20 miles- more if I'm riding out of town. About the same on the solid light I reckon too.

Started the K8 up last night in work, light started flashing, got 35 miles on it before it went solid, then another 10 until I filled up.

Mine usually starts flashing between 145-155 miles, then I can usually get over 30 miles before the light stays on.

Had 35 miles out of it once, riding at ridiculously low RPM following some friends who were lost. Every petrol station we came to was closed along the way (at 10:10 at night! It was ridiculous!). Filled up with 15.6 litres of fuel :/

don't get fooled by the petrol light warning you theres not much petrol left, sometimes they fail, and you don't know until your stranded. Dunno why I could know this

I just fill up every 130-150 miles by the odometer. Think I may be able get more though as I rarely have to put more than £13-£15 in.
