I've really wanted an Xtra raptor for a long time now. Have been put off slightly since i came off Dave. Matt says if we were to have one he'd have the Xtra and he'd make me have his old one...cheeky barsteward can't even keep it clean, so how can i expect him to keep an Xtra loooking good.
Also I was put off by how much 'expensive' bits cost if you dropped or crashed it...a set of standard 'horns' are £360 IIRC, he'd tell me if I was right, but I'm sat here on my own while he is in a wet field in Dent showing off the scratty rusty SRX :-(

I've seen 3 advertised in the UK in the last couple of months. One is in Newcastle pretty low down in the thousand that are in the world, one was on ebay, and now this one...We saw one last year in Leeds when we were looking for one, but they were asking 5500k for it, so we let it pass, and personally i thought the one that Matt bought was pretty scabby, and had quite high mileage for a VRaptor, but he said he prefered it that way, because all the little niggles will have been ironed out in those 15000 miles, compared to the Xtra's we've seen that usually only have about 3k on them.

Cheers Pete n Lissa, ya cheered me up tonight :-)

Guys..and girls.... if you actually saw one for real they don't look half as fugly as on pictures, they ain't that photogenic, but god in the flesh they are the only bike that gives me goosebumps......and with M4s they don't half peee all over your loud pipes ;-)

We've seen Curvy's for that sort of price before and they haven't been in nearly such good nick, or had all the nice extra's. Whoever buys it will be lucky, and at that mileage it's only just run in!

dizzyblonde
18-10-08, 08:23 PM
wow, I'd not noticed the mileage or price on the curvy. Someone will be pleased with that. I just hate the stealer price tag, cause that sometimes puts peeps pff buying. The Raptor price is high, but just the same as any other stealers price that i've seen this year

lol If I was to buy the Raptor I'd want a grand off it. I'm a tightwad yorkie lass, who believes in value for money. After all the Xtra is only a Vrap with fancy clothes. Mind you i do believe it has a better shock, and fully adjustable forks or summat, but a completely useless steering damper on it that cracks, and would be better off thrown straight in the bin!

zsv650
18-10-08, 09:00 PM
the raptors niiiiice i wouldnt pay that for it though £3500 max

dizzyblonde
18-10-08, 09:04 PM
our VRap was 3600 last year in D&K robbing sods. But we tried to get a full Yoshi system thrown in off a TL to justify the price, to which they agreed! Two days later they rang and said they don't fit..shame, but we wanted it anyway and they delivered it to HX in the snow, so we didn't mind so much. Last year Raptors seemed to be thin on the ground but they seem to be gathering a following, either that or we just noticed em more. Theres more on ebay these days too, one a month too many...lol

they just look different and unique. They stand out a lot more than the nakid.

I have toyed with the idea of a 650, having the mad idea that I wouldn't be able to handle the power of the thou ( cause I'm sensible me;)) but all it is an SV engine...and I've already got two of them, so it would be pointless. I wonder if the nakid is exactly the same front as the V, cause the V is a fairly upright position with the flat bars, even though its got an excuse of a fairing on it

Somebody designed that, I thought they taken a chainsaw to a block of plastic and then just stuck it onto the front of the bike.

The person who designed the Raptor also designed the Ducati Monster

Miguel Angel Galuzzi. Now go and look at a Duc monster and tell me thats fugly too, similar designers stamp on both bikes I'll think you'll find

Unique is not always good though ;)

Indeed it would be pointless getting the 650, of course you can handle the power of the thou.

The nakid is quite an upright sitting position, i've just got some renthal bars to replace the standard where the chrome is coming off and have got quite a few rust spots on them. The closest match to the standards are the Renthal Road Bike Low, I think that the closest Renthals to match the V Rap are the ultra lows.

Yep correct the monster is ugly to, especially the back end of the new 696 that Liz and I were looking at yesterday. Its also generic and well boring. The S4R isnt to bad, but its more individual that the older monsters are with the twin stacked pipes.

I'm not a naked bike fan, but sometimes they catch my eye. The Moto Morini for the Benelli TNT are two that do. I like the MT01 as well.

That extra plastic bolted on the front of the Vraptor does nothing for its aesthics, it spoils the line and the flow of the bike and it looks like somebody bolted it on as an after thought.

.

Perhaps not, but from my point of view it seems that having bikes that stand out from the rest has rubbed off on me from Im Indoors.

we both like something that looks different, neither of us particularly like a run of the mill bike, stand us in front of a line of bikes and we'll always go look at the odd one out.
Put a VRap in a field of bikes and watch how many will come and ask you about it.. its a marmite bike, people love it or loath it, but they still come and ask about it anyway
Put a scabby SRX in a field full of modern sports bikes, and everyone will come looksi ' WTF is that?' will be what most peeps will ask, well its one that at 33bhp will cartwheel round you, even if its 20 sum yrs old!
YPVS butchered and welded with RGV banana swingarm and front end, always another that everyones intrigued at
Both of my SV's have something that makes them a little different from standard (as does everybody) but stand a load of yellow curvies together and most will know which ones Dizzys( cause Gladys is sat on the back) and specially when I get that damn top yoke on it!

Ya see we is just an odd couple that really appreciate odd bikes, whatever they are, uniqueness in whatever guise, fugly or not is always good in my eyes, because they stand out in a crowd of boring same old same old:cool:

The S4R is a very versatile bike to mod. Most monsters are, they are as good as an SV to change and add your personal stamp. A friend in blackpool has an S4R and hes gone through some pretty good changes over the years with his to make it look individual

I'm not a nakid fan either...in case you haven't noticed;)

Now then if you put a RED VRap in front of either me or Matt...we'd be rolling on the floor in laughter...the fairing does look like it was shoved on as an after thought, its indicators are grey, and don't match and it looks reallly ghey in red. In fact a lot of Raptor owners think the same...
