We have established the best bread ... so what is the best tea?

Is tescos own worse than mud and twinings pure tea 'Shangri-la'?!?! or shut my eyes and go for tesco's own - it tastes the same and saves me a packet?!?!

I quite like 'yorkshire tea' ... I would get tescos own tea ... but fear it'd be a waste of 40p!!

Not too fussy with tea, a brew is a brew if am thirsty lol. However it's changes in water I can't stand, the water here in Aber is apparently very hard, makes the tea taste $hite :(

I'm with maria on this one, I'm not too bothered by what tea it is, Yorkshire water don't half make a good brew, none of that southern limey stuff...bleeeuugh

Currently on Tetleys. As long as you don't buy really cheap tea you can't go wrong if you make it right. But thats a whole different teapot of fish!

Tetleys for me too. The local Spar was selling it in this massive steel tin so i've probably got another years worth to go through still.

We filter the water before it goes in the kettle. Half the battle of a decent cuppa is the water quality. I'm not fussed on the tea although do quite like an earl grey.

+1 on Earl Grey. I really like the loose Earl Grey from Whittards, though you have to use a poncy tea straining techniques!

Milk in first doesn't allow the tea to brew properly, ending up with a rather weak cup of tea.

Used to have Yorkshire tea, but Aldi Gold label tea even nicer, plus a good price too.

Make it strong, like steam train drivers used to make

Brewed in a pot of course, milk in the cup first, don't make tea in the cup, it's pants!

Oh dear, we tend to drink Taylors Yorkshire Tea in the wilky household.

I bought some tetly on offer the other week. used twice as much as it was like nat pee so a false economy.

I do like a nice Assam with my toast and marmalade of a morning though. Made properly. the pot warmed, spoonful for each cup and one for the pot, allowed to brew before serving.

For me it has to be pg tips.

Does anyone else have any special ways of making tea or am I just strange?

My way.....

Take 1 proper mug (has to hold at least a pint)

Add tea bag then dash of milk. Then the water. Stir 50 times clockwise and 50 times anticlockwise and a good squeeze of the bag against the side of the mug.
Leave for 10 mins and repeat the stirring/squeeze regime.....then enjoy
:)

Ringtons all the way! Particularly the Earl Grey.

And the arguments concerning milk are just pointless. Everyone knows it tastes best black.

spoken like a suvverner who cannot get clean water out of his tap;)

I find that if you are as common as muck and do not wash your cup, staining is inevitable.

When my daughter did her school work experience at my office she was appalled at the state of my tea cup. I explained it was the soluble stuff that killed you. the insoluble stays in the cup.

Bitch did not listen and washed them out. 20 years of flavour lost.

The only propper way to make tea is with loose leaves in a tea pot, for an every day cuppa Typhoo or 99 are good but for a treat then Earl Grey, if it's a bag only choice Typhoo Decaff because it tastes nice & Tesco have it on special a lot, yes i'm a tight ar5e.

I'm Quite particular about Tea, it has to be Yorkshire Tea drunk black, and it must also be Tea-leaves......I do not wish to corrupt the fine taste with milk, sugar, honey or a paper-bag....[-X

( a nip of wizzer is acceptable on occasion however ! ) :thumright:

bleugh, black tea and leaves.

Somebody, a couple of months back, pointed out i always leave a bit in the bottom of the cup. They said I must have had a gob full of tea leaves once too often. Funnily enough when I was little, my grandad used to make tea with leaves, scarred me for life choking on tea leaves. beeeugh
