As some will remember three weeks ago some donkey went into the back of me. Well the repair company have finally done the assesment. Considering that he went into the back of me at 5mph whilst I was stationary the list is..........
Rear plastics......all of them from the riders seat backwards.
New Tail light.
New Tail tidy.
New indicators.
New Plate.
New Avon Storm.......
And finally, the two biggies........
A full new rear subframe and undertray.
A brand new Scorpion Street Extreme :D......apparently the can was pushed upwards when he hit me and it has hit the pillion foot peg and dented it.
They phoned Scorpion to check availability and would be 5 weeks, so they are going to repair everything else and post the can to me once delivered for me to fit myself.
I find out finally on friday when I will get it back as they will be ordering all the bits over the next 48 hours and will know how long it will take for everything to arrive.
Looks like you get to keep a tidy bike for a bit longer then, i bet you will be gutted to give the honda back:(
i was told that they will only replace the parts with standard?

It is cheaper for them to replace with non standard parts.....plus, all the costs are on there insurance, so the other company will be pleased to keep costs lower.
As for the Honda, I can do a write up if peeps are interested but to be honest I am quite dissapointed with the Hornet considering the hype.

Yup, is taking ages, not happy bout that, but......have a replacement so its not toooooo bad. The only bits if damage I wasn't 100% certain over were the rear subfram and the can. The subfram I hadn't really checked and the can I didn't notice. But I'm not going to complain as being done at their expense.

It is great news that it will be sorted soon . At this rate yours will be back on the road before mine . I bet you can't wait though ... :D

As per the Hornet post, I really really want my bike back it. Never thought I would miss it this much as it is supposed to be the whole "biking is brilliant" element and thought I wouldnt be that fussed. But........miss it. Want to clean and polish it!!!!:D

Why a new tyre and not a wheel? Tyre's flex, alloy dents.
Hope they've checked swingarm for straightness and all bearings for damage. Would be terrible to get a full new set of chassis bearings for nowt wouldn't it...

Well they had the rear wheel off and checked the tyre. He said that the tyre is actually intregrually fine and there are no marks on the wheel, but, there are scrapes on the tyre and hence he said when they see rear end shunts as a rule they do the tyre automatically.
Apparently the swingarm is spot in and straight. I asked about the rear bearings and whether any were damaged etc, he said they checked the wheel bearing and the rear linkages as well as the rear shock etc and all are fine....... I think quite lucky to be fair.

You were told wrong. If another party's insurance company is paying then they replace like for like, they have no option but to either return it to pre-accident condition, or write it off as uneconomical (even then you can insist they rebuild it - it's your bike after all, not theirs, and only you decide what happens to it). If your own insurance company is paying then they will only replace like for like if you declare any modifications at the time you insure the vehicle. All the mods are declared to my insco, and they didn't quibble one bit when I stuffed it under a car, they just paid out and I repaired it myself.
