If I make a nice stainless water deflector for my front cylinder area would I have any cooling issues. I know its liquid cooled but the front pipe would also be getting protection for front wheel spray and therefore not getting the airflow that it may need?

Dont tell me buy an S and fit lowers :)

on one of my SVs there is no crap flap( fender extenda) but there is some sort of metal sheet thing thats attached somewhere behind the rad, and it covers the front cylinder very well...you can't notice it without reaaaaallly looking, never had an issue with overheating or anything.

Is that what you were thinking of doing.

the things I do for you lot...dark shed, blowing a gale and peeing it down

not the best of pics, and Daves downpipe does need a clean, but its not been out of there in 2 months, gives you an idea,
first you don't notice it when you first look at the front cylinder

I see, was thinking of being a bit more creative.
I will take a look and see what i come up with.
Maybe post something new next week after a couple of trials.
Cheers Dizzy

well it came with the bike, and i have no reason to take it off, as it works...lol
like I said gives you an idea of where to hang things etc. What were you thinking along the lines of?

Is it home made Dizz?
was it on the bike when you got it?

What Dizzy has done will not cause any over heating issues, in fact you would have to put a stupid sized plate in front of a heavily tuned engine to cause any serious problems.

Like I said it came with the bike, the previous owner did it. He used to do a lot of motorway riding to and from uni, I presume it was to combat water getting in the front plug rather than putting a fender extenda on. Works fine, no issues,, dunno what the hell its made out of though.

Downpipe doesn't need much cooling. Look at how much direct airflow the rear one gets ;-)

Yes yes valid point indeed. And Im liking yours jimmy-james I will be getting creative this weekend. I will start a new thread rather than keep bumping this one.
Cheers all.

Mine is made of stamp perforated and anodised aluminium courtasy of my old mans garage and cut by a pair of tin snips held firmly in position by the shiny bits either side of the radiator. Start to finish took half an hour to do and no more misfiring in wet weather since doing it. Good luck

What's the hexagonal item behind the radiator, left side?

I'd still say to use some silicone grease.
Before I started using it, I had to leave the bike uncovered for 2 rainy days, it started only on 1 cylinder :(.
