Errr those lines aren't painted around a car that then was removed. It seems to have been painted around a probably illegal concrete ramp. If you zoom in the lighter bit is raised and the yellow lines are following that.

Yeh no doubt. It probably did happen but the beeb probably just dove into their library of pictures and pulled out on that looks vaguely like a line painted around the cars.
Funnily enough there are two more stories bout the same thing as links on the same page. One which says Lines Painted UNDER Cars might take a read of that.

It doesn't look like a ramp as such to me (slightly raised but not even up to the level of the kerb) but you're right, it doesn't look like it was where a car was parked. At first glance I thought it was a wet day and that was the reason for the colour change (car had kept it dry) but it's not really car shaped on closer inspection...

Brilliant!!! The line painters found a car in their way and simply picked it up and moved it :) Gotta love their ingenuity

Something similar happened in Portugal... The council were tarmacking the road and there was a parked car, so they just went round it :lol: Looked absolutely ridiculous!!
