On 13th September Tim Reynolds was riding along the A326 from the direction of the M27 towards his home at Hythe when he was killed by a motorist who apparently pulled out from the Twiggs lane junction.
Barely 3 weeks earlier and about 3 miles further along the same road Terry Stubbs and his 11yr old pillion, Channon Kavern, who also happened to be his step daughter, were killed whilst riding towards Fawley at the site of a gravel lay-bye.
The Southampton branch of MAG have taken on the case of trying to get improvements made to this road for the safety of all, not just motorcyclists, as this road has a long history of fatal and serious injury accidents.
A petition has been set up, in the local area good old fashioned paper and pen signatures are being collected but, we now have an online version which I would urge anyone who has knowledge of the A326 or concerns regarding safety on this road to sign and if possible pass the link to as many colleagues and friends as seem appropriate.
There is a public meeting being held at the Marchwood C of E school, Twiggs lane, Marchwood, Southampton at 7.30 on Tuesday 4th November for all concerned to make their feelings known.
I know this is a Nationwide forum and that this issue is only local to the area near Southampton but the more people aware the better.

Hi
Yes,
Sorry for that, everyone on here will know Tim as TeeJay.
We currently have a really strong surge of local opinion about this road which we want to keep going certainly up to and past a public meeting that is being held on 4th november

no worries.

the Daily Echo have been promoting this story quite heavily the last few months. As J2 says, lets hope it saves lives and reduces the amount of accidents

if youre referring to some of the comments left on the website stu, all I'll suggest is youre better off ignoring them. there's an element who subscribe and regularly post on that site who are so anti bike its ridiculous. they'll form an opinion and spout it off whenever there is a story of a rider being hurt in an accident."no doubt the idiot was going too fast, hairing through the traffic..." etc etc
