View Full Version : Vote for Diana Vickers
On X Factor !!! I know you might not all watch it but she is my best friends cousin and a pretty unique singer I must say :winner:

I really like her. Wish she'd tone down the jazz hands a bit though!
X factor is pap and the loosers who every year win it and then are never heard from again, despite aparantly being the 'next big thing'
The best part of X factor is the first shows when all the tone deaf muppets turn up thinking because their mum said they can sing they will win.

Gonna save my money if that's ok FIL, what with the credit crunch and all. She is good though!

She's really good and only 17! I can see what you mean about the jazz hands though Shonadoll, occasionally is ok, but a movement every syllable is a bit OTT lol. She'll go far I reckon, even if she doesn't win the thing, someone will snap her up :)
However I don't go near telly votes with long bargepoles but I hope she manages it. She's a bit of a cross between Joss Stone and Kelly Clarkson lol
She is cute....I like her and she can sing alright as well.
Leona Lewis is the best thing that has come out of Xfactor, there is 3 to 4 people this year that are very very good....

Yes she is good but I am biased as she is related to my best friend ;)
I agree. Leona Lewis has a fantastic voice

Yes, she is god damned hot. I would vote for her...
IN MY PANTS
I'd love to say she's different but hasn't it all been done before by the Cranberries and Sinead O'Connor?
Don't get me wrong, she's good, just not as different as they keep saying on TV.

The idea of these competitions is for them to do covers so people can compare and contrast singing styles and tell if they're in tune or not I guess. If she does her own songwriting she'll get that chance if she gets a record deal later on.

Agree here, said it when she was auditioning. I certainly think she is the weaker of the ladies finalists. She appeals to all those who vote cute. Wish she'd put some shoes on and stop stroking her face. She has a good voice, so far she has held well. Before she goes out though, all the blokes will go first, and the boy band. The guys ain't as strong a talent as the girls, in fact they are all pretty weak in comparison, TBH the blokes this time are sh!te
For me Rachel did an absolute brilliant version of Nina Simone tonight, I particularly enjoy listening to a proper soul voice, when its put in the right song, and that one was perfect for her tonight. Laura is very talented, and so is Alexandra. I'm still unsure about Ruth, but so far i've been right every week for who goes out next. Don't usually watch carp TV like this but while I'm off work I may as well
So I predict that all the blokes will be voted out one by one, with the boy band going last. Then it will be perhaps Diane or Ruth, but we shall see, maybe I could have Simon Cowls job, I think hes deaf...lol
who???
dont watch the telly
I voted for her guitar player ;)

Yup, not something I usually watch, but I *****ed up my ears because I actually heard someone able to sing, which is a rarity these days.
Besides Dylan likes watching it.....don't have many weekends where I get to sit in front of the TV with him, mum and son time.....I'll make the most of it ;-)
SO which one of the overated Karaoke singers got the boot this week?
She needs to sort her hair out b4 I'd vote for her - I hate the I've been at Glastonbury for the last week look! I know is a singing comp but would end up seeing pictures all over the place for the 3 weeks of fame once finished.
Why don't she wear shoes either?
Why don't she wear shoes either?
She's a student from Blackburn... it's grim oop north - no jobs, no money for fancy stuff like shoes.

Yes Simon, I too thought Rachel was great tonight but didn't appear to give it her all. She has such a powerful voice.

Dizzyblonde you need a hobby. The rest of you are just as sad.
For a change I agree with neil on something... that's unusual :-P
People actually pay money to vote for such folks? Why not go to a pub on kareoke night, then you can listen to people who think they can sing in a place which serves a selection of refreshing beverages too.

X factor crap, cannot be bothered with it. But read in the local rag that she is from Accy. So I bet she does dirty very well
I was subjected to this when eating our takeaway last night, mum had it on. Christ, what a load of crap. I ate quickly..

Just clicked a 'related' video and heard her speak ...
She is off my list unless she kept her mouth shut*
p.s. Joking aside, as she is someone friend/family, I wish her luck, but shows like this to my mind are just drivel ... that said, I can always just not watch it! ... and I can see for someone who wants to get down that line, it could be an amazing opportunity for them to be on the show.
Shame there isn't a similar thing for people that want to take on different vocations ;) ... like one to try out as a surgeon!! ... or pole dancers ... now that I would watch!!! :D
*I so wanted to say 'full' ... but I won't ... well kinda wont ...

I do like her, but I think she will struggle as I don't think she has the versitility with her voice- looking forward to her proving me wrong! She's very Norah Jones.
BTW get rid of Ruth!

I think Diana is very talented but very contemporary/unique which may go against her I aggre with Simon Cowell when he said a couple of weeks back -she is like Marmite!
My favourites Laura and Rachel...I have a feeling Laura will win as she is the more contemporary of the two.
Mind you last night I was more interested in all those luvverly Saxophones...yeah baby!

No strangely enough i would rather castrate myself with a blunt spoon than watch it. As chris said you can in to the pub and see people just as good and at least get a pint as well.
If these people were really that good then they would have been signed before. In my opinion it cheapens the industry as lets face it they will get an xmas no one then drop of the face of the earth never to be remembered .
Other proper artists must be annoyed that these little **** ants come in and get a number one not from their talkent but from all the 13 year olds who watch this cack who then buy their song.
I would have a bit of respect for them if they at least stood up and said look i know i am a one hit wonder but i am only here for the money and my 5 min of fame. Rather than giving the bull that its all they have ever wanted to do. Same for simon how can he sit there and say with a straight face he thinks if has found the best thing since sliced bread year on year . Just say i do it to get even richer.

The odd thing is, my other half went to the pub last night. He said he was popping to the Brown Cow, which is quiet and sells god beer, but instead he went in the Horse and Jockey that has p!$$ poor karaoke singers and really terrible beer..WTF, he may as well have stayed at home and heard some singing that didn't sound like nails being scratched down a blackboard.
Everyone knows that the X Factor is the industries way of making money out of some nobody and fully exploiting them, and moulding them into mainstream cack, eventually heading into oblivion with 'who was that again' from the public. It makes TV stations ratings soar, and the masses swarm into watch cause none of us can afford to sit in the pub on a Saturday night, oh and isin't it really odd hoe the final is always around Xmas, just in time for them to bring out a 'xmas single'??
I can sit in one of my locals and watch some of the best live jazz, blues, rock bands you folks will probably never get to witness, unfortunatly these folks will never get the chance to go big, and stay on the pub circuit forever and a day...shame, big shame, unless some seedy talent scout finds em.
I have a little knowledge of how this stuff works, as years ago I used to go out with a well known guitarist in a certain genres circle, also I went out went out with an AR guy from a certain genre record label, so to me I know how things work, what happens behind the scenes ,,,dedication to the cause, the lengthy nights in recording studios...blah blah blah
Oh also everybody is always searching for their 15 minutes of fame

Not necessarily - how are they supposed to get seen? X factor is just another (very public) showcase. Talent shows are nothing new - do you remember Opportunity Knocks and New Faces? Plenty of successful acts came from those.
These people are the pub/club/amateur/sing in the shower acts who were brave enough to put themselves out there to get seen somewhere - it doesnt come to them they have to go and seek it and X factor is just an audition process with bells and whistles. Otherwise they will just carry on being talented in the pub/club/shower etc.
There's plenty of musicians out there happy to just play/sing for the enjoyment of it, and others who seek more from it.
