Front fork problems

Hi all

As of late my front shocks have being acting different of late. Its nothing major just over some bumps it make a clumping sound or knocking sound..

Its starting to do my head in. I dont have much experience in fixing shocks and dont have much cash to bring it into a shop to get repaired at £45 a hour (credit crunch and all)

Any ideas!!!!

Maybe the steering head bearings have play and that's where the knock is coming from. Forks don't go wrong by themselves usully other than fork seals. Grab the front wheel and pull it back and fore to see if there's any play, much easier if it's on a proper stand though. If not that then maye check the oil level in the forks.

Common issue with SV's so don't worry it shouldn't be anything major.

I would say it is probably your forks if you are having no steering issues, but as said above check your headrace bearing for free play just in case. If the headrace is fine then I would say the forks need servicing which is a good time to fit springs and oil to suit your weight.

Yarp but pull head apart too to add some grease.
