...a front paddock stand I could borrow please?
Really need to get my puncture sorted out. I'm starting to lower the price of property in my street, what with the washing machine sat out the back and the flat-tyred storm on the drive

Not on my mind....no.
:D
Indeed ET, I have front and rear stand if you so require the use of them. Let me know if you want me to bring them to the meet this week or whenever.

Well he didn't ask nicely [-(
But if he did :D
But anyway, why not just plug it & not even remove it - can lend you a crafty plugger

I'm currently using a jack and a support roped to a beam to aid my fork replacement. :(

I'll answer that for you now, an angle grinder would probably be the quickest way to get the wheel off ;)

Yeah, had an off last month. Probably not advisable if you need your wheels to be round, forks to be in one piece or like your testicles or pelvis for that matter etc. etc.

Have you been successful anyway? I've put it on the side stand and then used a car jack to jack it up at the other side and it'll lean over on the stand enough to remove the wheel.

Borrowing a stand at the weekend and then I'll attempt it. We'll see how it goes!
Can you nay just plug the hole and tiptoe it round to the puncture fixing people?

That would have been the easy option. I must prove I can take bike wheels off!

Taking wheels off is the easy part. Having faith in them once you've put them back on....is another story.
Wheel see how it goes!
Taking wheels off is the easy part. Putting them back on without knocking the spacers out and watching them roll out of reach at least once ...is another story.

Proof that I did at least part of the job! Gave up on the front stand. The universal prongs to go under the fork legs didn't seem to like staying in place.
I'll have to do 2 trips to the garage to get my tyres changed. Humph.

Right that's it dog brain. I refuse to let you mock my mechanical skills and have purchased my own front stand - different design to the one I've borrowed so hopefully will have more luck.
Truth is I was going to get charged £25 to fit the new front unless I took loose wheels in and the stand was only £35.
how much for loose wheels & where?
I got them at £10 each at Infinity Farnborough recently, but when I called again the wanted £15 each (£26 RIRO own tyres)
But I'll still have to buy a 23mm ish allen key tool :(

Free for loose wheels at FCL in Cranleigh. Not with my own tyres and, ok, you'll pay more there for your tyres there but it's good to support local guys and they're always friendly and efficient.
I think it's a flat £25 charge (half hour labour) RIRO whether it's front, rear or both so seemed silly to do 2 trips and pay £25
so to save you spending £25 you spent £35 - excellent lol

I know, I know. But I figure I'll get some use out of it between mine and Sarah's bikes. Planning for the future...or something like that:scratch:

Fanfare. After many hours of planning, the front wheel actually came off too.
I now have new boots and I've even got the wheels back on and the bike off the stands. (Forgot to take pics of the finished article but it is now all in one piece)

I always thought the Buell was supposed to be awesome? Shame, I thought one of them looked quite smart (can't remember which one, lighting, firebolt?)
