Found out my grandad died last night. He's been suffering from heart trouble for a couple of years now and he suddenly collapsed last night. Ambulance service was at the house in 6 mins which was bloody quick but they were still too late :(

They think he had a blood clot in his heart..I feel proud to have known him and had a good relationship with him. He'l be missed but not forgotten thats for sure.

I've lost both my grandparents in the past few years. I got my 'inheritance' yesterday though- a ring with my grandad's initials on it, which I now proudly wear :)

Thought i'd say something too about maria's grandad...

He was a really cool guy, former biker (old age and i guess family and money got him off bikes?) so he was always talkin to me about the bikes he had (I think he had a matchless and a velocette). One bike was lost when he went away to serve in the army (his national service), i think he said his mum sold it? I cant remember. Anyway, he liked the SV, was impressed at how easy it was to work on...whenever maria;s grandparents came rund (saturdays) i would normaly be cleaning, he'd come out and sit on the wall and we'd have a chat and I'd show him stuff that was cool on my bike and things. He loved his gadgets, which was great because he was up to speed with modern stuff. He was a very positive influence on me, and will continue to be....I'm lucky to have known him and feel priveleged to have been the receiver of his wisdom. He was ill, very ill, but never down, always positive and always happy to see Maria and her family.

So to you richard, thanks for the chats, thanks for the stories and thanks for the positive outlook on life you passed on to me. Rest easy mate, maybe you'll find all those old bikes up there ;)
