Translation :

The RS models of ford are simply the best, they are just excellent

I'd love a Series 1 RST. Sadly no money and a lot of sense.

Gorgeous! So much better looking standard than with the stoopid large FMIC cut out and twin headlight conversions etc etc

I'd love a Series 1 RST. Sadly no money and a lot of sense.
I would rather have an RS1600i - the 'Scort of choice ;)

Do the RS1600i's really go for that sort of money.

Kerry's Granddad (RIP) had one which had about 20k on the clock a couple of years ago and was in perfect condition......I think it was sold to a boyracer for £500 who 'chavved it up'

Agreed, i would like the set. Series 1 RST, 1600i in blue, Mk2 RS2000, Mk1 Mexico and my old Mk1 XR2 back (Very modified). Cant beat a bit of Dagenham's finest

Oooh another classic!

Do you remember the supercharged/turbocharged and nitroused one that used to frequent Santa Pod?

ooo just did a wee bit in my pants!

my old man bought a brand new mark one in 71, immediately tore the wings off and put massive flarred arches on, dropped a 2 litre lump in, armstrong struts, 6j's (i think)...i'll dig out some photos of it and scan it. immensly quick car, and fair play to the lad for carving up the family car...

My 'rents bought a brand new 1.1L Mark 1 in 1971 and did nothing of the sort - I wont bother scanning the couple of pics I have

nope. sorry blue, they're awesome vehicles. dominated many a rally in the mid 70's, and my fathers car was without doubt the most uncomfortable thing i've ever ridden in! it was like riding a mangle. im sure i got back problems 37 years later cos of it....

I used to try and emulate it in my MkIV cortina but it just didn't have the same effect :( but any rear wheel drive car was an absolute hoot to drive.

I like to call them the Chav-a-lier......

I have to say that although I wanted one, I never actually owned one.

Closest I got to was this....

http://www.metropower.co.uk/media/models/GTi/GTi2.jpg

Unfortunately I wrote it off.

Me and my mate were throwing scotch eggs out of the window at this woman and then I crashed into her on a junction...oops.

Very odd to see a Mk1 on a 1979/80 V plate when they stopped making them roughly 5 years beforehand. The very last of the Mk2s were on V and the occasional W plates.

I had one of those as one of my first company cars, it lasted 3 months before I wrote it off. They gave me a Mk3 Cav SRi to replace it, and strict instructions to not write this one off. I didn't, but the van that hit me from behind on the motorway 6 weeks later did. I got another one after that and kept it 2 years
