You have my sypathies.

Question: what brand of slider was that bent over instead of sliding?

Those type of sliders are mounted to the lower fairing bracket which is quite flimsy, more for looks than anything as the bracket bends too easily!

Should be a reasonably easy fix luckily. Hope you are ok! :D

+1,

did you hit something? did the tyre randomly blow for no reason?

If it randomly blew, matt (alpinestarhero) said to report it to whoever made the tyre because they would probably want to know. The tyre manufacturer might want to investigate it or something.

Glad to hear you got out of that in one piece though!

wow that was what i call a warm welcome :)

as dave said, the mounting bracket gave way not the slider, causing the slider to seek for cover in the panel.

I'll try and describe the situation for you;

was in MK, so anyone who knows the area will not its just 400yard roads + roundabouts.
was around 11 at night no-one around obviously.
had been making good progress (nothing silly, was rather cold out)
came down towards this roundabout heading straight on, slowed nice and early could see there were no cars in sight, entering the roundabout smooth on power literally 20-25mph maybe.
wasn't learning anywhere near enough to get into a low slide position.
next thing i know bike felt as if it moved 1/2yard left,
quickly followed by on the floor.
we slid to the curbing and stopped fairly quickly.
whereas the bike (infront of us now) hit the curb (gathering wheel hit it first and rather hard, no support from de-flated tyre and received a nasty hit to the rim)
then managed to flip over and travel about 20odd meters down the road. :(

is alot worse than pics make out, but fixable via ebay.
tyre's were Metzler's(sp?) and had plenty of life front and rear.

truely gutted as it wasn't my doing, and now im stuffed for getting to work.

but very glad i wasn't going any faster.

Sounds to me like you lost the front end and the tyre deflation was caused by the wheel rim being flattened after it hit the kerb.

MK roundabouts can be very slippery when it's cold and damp out.

Hope it fixes cheaply and glad you're ok.

*Slight update*
forks seem to be knackered aswel

@ Lozzo; that could well be right,
ive spoke to loads of fello bikers about it, and doing my best (and my pillion's) to describe exactly how it happened the majority seem to say im right in ruling out my actions being the culprit.
and it either being down to diesel on the road (i did see ALOT around MK during the week i was there) or as i thought originally the tyre going down.

@ Horney; il have that off you fella ;)

Did it happen as you were exiting the roundabout? Only asking cause all the damage is to the LHS.

no i was half way through, bike fell onto RHS, (crash bung worked) slid to the curb and then flipped over, ended up 20meters down the road i was heading to.

unlucky matey - happens to us all eventually- .. cliche but bikes can be mended,##

that slider- has slid!! see the scrapings- the bolts are designed to bend or there is too much pressure on the frame and yer frame gets fooked.
