Ok so a fresh install of windows points to me that you MAY have to go to the manufacturers website to download latest drivers for the Soundcard or Onboard Sound .

right that's a driver i already had and it all works however when browsing through files on the C drive or what ever the woofer makes a loud anoying thud noise then you open a folder, so i reverted back to the older one and everything works except on the internet :smt017

Have you tested it in 2.1 to see if the sub kicks in ?

Ok I take back what I said before :D , Fresh install then service packs after getting online then Drivers . Then we hunt down the problem . I couldn`t transfer from my Digital Camcorder over FireWire and was banging my head against the wall ..... I eventually tried the MS knowledge base and found a teeny tiny 1.4meg install that sorted it for me . Service pack 3 .. is this XP ?
