I am already laughing at Clarkson , his test of the Porsche was him just screaming with a Death Metal band playing in the background LOL . He has stopped saying "Torques" as a unit of Power and has started to say "Horsepowers" instead :D

Is it the 7% loop (Alpine Hill Circuit) at Millbrook?

If it is I used to drive it daily in all sorts of cars from 3 cylinder 1.0 litre Corsas to Lotus Esprit V8s - I used to be a test driver there, one of the most boring jobs in the world.

Suppose it is like working at a biscuit factory , you soon get bored of it . I just want a quick thrapp around there on a Supermoto and I`d be happy :D

Lozzo
02-11-08, 11:18 PM
But no-one ever expects working in a biscuit factory to be a glamourous well paid job. Test driving wasn't badly paid, but you soon get bored of going round in circles for days on end in the same car on the same 2 mile bit of boring 6 lane track at 145mph. 8 whole hours of driving at those speeds when there's nothing new to divert your attention soon becomes very boring, and I have to confess I did at times get mesmerised by flashes of the joins in the armco 3 foot away - I even fell asleep at 130mph one night shift when I had been kept awake by my kids being little sods with their mother downstairs while I tried to sleep.

When we were doing handling circuit or hill route work it was far better because the work was varied and the schedules you ran to give you something to concentrate on, and you get to drive round the whole facility on some of the schedules. I got stuck mainly doing gearbox testing for Lotus, Rover high speed endurance testing and emmissions testing of a Frontera diesel, which was even worse because you're stuck at 35mph on the same 2 mile bowl for most of that.

I know it is set-up, I know it's opinionated, but it is laugh out loud funny and non-pc and absolutely great TV. It is the only thing on TV worth watching.

My Wife Hates the Programme because of one person, Yes JC...

Thats why she goes upstairs and rings her mum for an hour and I get to watch it in piece with a few beers... NICE to be Back !

Thank the lord for bbc i player!

Quite a few people hate JC don't they?

But apparently Richard Hammend is a bit of a **** in real life whereas my source says that JC was one of the nicest people he's met.

wonder if that will go unnoticed after the furore with Brand and Ross this week ... ?

Did anyone notice the dig at Fifth Gear at the start of the truck thing, the big building with the flag at Millbrook is the secret test track/studio that Fifth Gear use :)

xXBADGERXx
03-11-08, 08:38 PM
I didn`t notice that .

I loved how Clarkson got a little annoyed when James scraped his lorry down the side of his. Clarkson has always deliberately crashed into him lol!

I won't hear of it I won't!!!! :p

Anyone notice the pulp fiction quote by Clarkson after his drum kit was wrecked? Amused me anyhow hehe

I have the sense of humour of a jar of marmite - I laugh out loud at nothing anymore. Apart from Top Gear. There's something about watching three middle aged (ish) blokes dicking about in cars that makes me giggle like a schoolboy who's just heard a new swearword. Especialy when things catch fire.

xXBADGERXx

It is the only thing I religiously watch on TV now ....... everything else is just ......... Meh!

Be nice if they occasionally road tested some cars...

Jas...

Mr Speirs
04-11-08, 09:05 PM
Na road testing cars is boring. I am not interested in how a Lambo handles as I will never own one. Plus its a Lambo. Regardless its guna be a nice car.
