Hello all

The deposit is in the post :) I have asked them to ring me and confirm that they have received it, and also that they can spread us fairly evenly over two tables. We don't want 10 people on one table, and 3 on another.

We have thirteen takers, so we're in for a good one :)

They open at 12, and we are booked in straight away, so everybody please aim to be there a few minutes before, just to ease things along.

The meal is here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=41+station+road,+holme&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=14.149238,28.828125&ie=UTF8&ll=52.474223,-0.238725&spn=0.000851,0.00176&t=h&z=19). Heading east on the B660, it is just before the railway crossing, on the left hand side.

Also, if you are coming up the A1 (if you take the dull route) watch out for your junction. You need to come of quite early, J15 for Sawtry, then take the B1043 up to the B660 (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=52.383406,-0.257492&daddr=41+station+road,+holme&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=14&sll=52.393568,-0.270109&sspn=0.028493,0.056305&ie=UTF8&ll=52.431734,-0.245476&spn=0.113873,0.22522&z=12).

Date: 6th December
Time: 12pm

Thanks for sending me your deposits so fast people :)
If I've missed anything, let me know and I'll add it to this post.

Wouldn't have anything to do with BBD coming along would it Skip? I could see how that would put anyone of a delicate nature off their food. :smt078

Or are you just too tight to pay for your missuses meal? :santa:

Has anybody done one of these before? Is it easiest if people just pay their own cash on the night to sort it all out?

Choice of 3 Starters @ £4.95
Choice of 4 Mains @ £10.50
Choice of 4 Desserts @ £4.20

It'll be 15-20 quid each excluding drinks by the looks of things ;)

Spoken to Dad, and any meals he's organised or been to, everybody pays their way once we get the bill at the end.

So this is the way we will do it. Nobody can get upset then. ;)

On the night Sean? You'd better amend that before Skip gets all confused again.

Don't forget peeps we've already paid a tenner deposit each so that makes it even cheaper.;)

It's just my luck that when I need a master brake cylinder there isn't one available in the UK (according to the poor sole that's fixing her up). But it should hopefully be sorted for this Monday coming.

Mr Speirs
02-12-08, 10:52 AM
Really depends on the conditions for me. If its icy its a definate no no.

Also depends whether Kerri fancies sitting on the back in the cold :). I really want to get out on the bike as its been sat here at work looking bored.

Same here - I must confess I havent ridden mine since the last EAR rideout!

As long as its dry and not icy I will get the bike out - pouring with rain/snow/ice then TT it is!

I have my heated grips working now, heated vest sounds nice Sean :) ill just wrap up warm.

Sean_C

it's quite possible I might just be a wimp! Coming home Sunday, by the time I was half at home my hands were so cold it was a bit of effort to bend my fingers to get to the front brake- not good!

Mr Speirs
02-12-08, 03:47 PM
I had that the other day when I went out to see if I could get my Heated Grips working. They wouldn't and therefore my hands froze and it hurt to pull the levers.
They work now tho :)

Skip
02-12-08, 04:06 PM
I fitted Oxford heated grips to my SV - didnt like them much - your fingers still freeze but your palm is warm  - bought some proper insulated mittens from Hein Gericke - they are much nicer :)

I have no other option other then go by bike because I'm a real man (Tee he he). Although if it's cold and icy then I'll take the direct route up the A1/A1M instead of taking to the twistys. :)

Sean_C
02-12-08, 07:06 PM
I'll be going up the A1 just for ease, time and mileage. I'm tight, google says I can do from mine to Holme, and then on to Izi's on one tank of diesel if I take the A1 :p

Sean and Scott, you two meeting up somewhere?

K
06-12-08, 09:20 AM
Er hello. This is Kays housemate here. Ive just got a text from her at the stables, her horse has got colic and shes waiting for the vet to arrive and so is very sorry but its unlikely she will make it over to the meal in time.
She did say if everything was ok she would try to head over there as soon as possible and at least catch up with folks, but couldn't promise anything.

She did also tell me to put a few very sad smileys at the end of this message but I can't find them.

Adam.

Just like to thank Sean for organising the EAR Xmas meal, brilliant job well done. Really nice to meet up again and have the pleasure of such a nice bunch. Just sorry we had to leave so early to sort our photographer out. Nice to meet Mrs BBD too. Thanks for the xmas card Pete and Lissa, and again really really sorry we couldn't stay for a bit longer for a chat with everyone.

I'll be glad to do the next rideout, but I won't be able to sort anything until mid January, if thats ok with everyone, then I'll get thinking of a route thats hopefully a bit different

I think we are all going to join Mike and Jane on their honeymoon Skip. That would be a different ride-out!

I'd been looking forward to catching up with all the EAR folk and it was a lovely meal. Shame about K though.

Very nice to meet the women behind the men. Jane, Jan and Kerri. Hopefully they enjoyed it too.

Big thanks to Sean for getting us out again and BBD for the card. Looking forward to cashing the cheque.

Didn't get any pics of the meal itself, just the car park.

Way to make me jealous guys, nice bikes, nice weather, nice company and a nice meal by the sounds of it.:smt019;)

Had a bit of a rough day and only just got in.:(
It wasn't my horse that was ill - but a friend's who is on the same yard as mine that I was going to be looking after. It's always the thing you dread - looking after somone elses animal and something bad happening.
Basically she'd fed him real early this morning before leaving for her parents in Shropshire for the weekend. I checked in a couple of hours later to do Leo and then head off to meet you lot and he was showing signs of colic.

Long story short, got her vet out, did stuff, waited for it to take effect, it didn't, so an emergency trip to the vet college at Potter's Bar for an operation - unsuccessful as he died mid op.:(

Called Louise (his owner) and she'd doubled back, nothing else that could have been done and all that, did all the right things, vet arrived promptly n stuff...

... still feel guilty, rotten and thinking about all those 'what if's' even though you know the outcome would still have been the same.

Mike2165

Nice pics lads. Pete only one problem with the rideout on the honeymoon, by the time you hit 4th gear, the bike will be half in the sea!!. Apart from that, I don't see any roads on the island...so Seggons will be ok as it seems to be all off roading!!
