View Full Version : Now Clarksons in Trouble

Mr Speirs
04-11-08, 09:22 AM
Was wacthing GMTV and they were running a story on how there has been numerous complaints about Mr Clarkson.

On Top Gear he refered to Truckers as Prostitute Murderers.

Im getting a bit sick of this now. If the BBC fire or ask for the resignation of anyone else I am going to demand my TV Licence back.

Hopefully as Jeremy Clarkson has some stones he will just tell everyone to **** Off and find something else to cry about.

I have a fairly simple approach to this - turn your tv or radio off! Seems to be slightly controversial though.

I can't stand Little Britain, just can't abide it. So I switch it off. Suppose I should be watching it from start to finish, and then complaining to the beeb about it - I'm just doing it all wrong.....

I saw that episode, and was laughing like mad all the way through.

If the BBC can Clarkson, Top Gear won't be the same, IMO, to the point where it's not really worth watching. Sure Hammond & May are funny (more Hammond than May), but it's the team dynamic that makes it so good.

Hammond was just on Radio1, but I didn't hear anything bad about the show.

If Clarkson & Top Gear go from the BBC, I don't think there'll be a programme worth watching on BBC2. Can't remember the time I last watched BBC1 either.

i think the x million of people who watched it and heard him say that collectively said "uh oh, there'll be trouble for that"...

thankfully 99% of the population are sane and sensible and took the joke with the humour (maybe misplaced, but meh) it was intended.

but there seems to be a witchhunt at the BBC right now, cos of the muppets ross and brand, so ordinarily the comment may have passed without incident now is being examined and taken literally.

political correctness is a crime.

i actually got bored typing this, anybody else feel the same emotion? is boredom an emotion? or what?

Can't say I said (or thought) that. I was too busy laughing. Sorry.

Mr Speirs
04-11-08, 09:35 AM
Oh My God I don't think I've ever laughed so hard!!!

Get this. The United Road Transport Union are demanding an Apology as are......

The English Collective of Prostitutes!!!!
They believe Clarkson should apologise to Prostitute Women. Haha

Top gear will not get canned. I think its possibly the most watched programme on BBC2 if not BBC1. Its won awards and lets face it, its Jezza at his controvercial best.

I was laghing as hard. I would have thought that there would be more complaints about calling Richard Hammond a Pikey (With regards his number plate, which wasnt legal anyway)

Drew Carey
04-11-08, 09:44 AM
If the BBC were to can Top Gear I think the effect would be far more sever than a few complaints. No doubt we will hear a humerous apology in the coming weeks in Jezzas typical way. Will be looking forward to it....moaning barstewards.

Mr Speirs
04-11-08, 09:50 AM
Can imagine the Apology.

Dear Prostitute Murdering Truckers and Prostitutes,
Prostitution is illegal so I'm not really sure what it is that the English Collective of Prostitutes is. A massive brothel perhaps?
Anywhoo. Sorry.

Jezzer insults everyone doesn't he?? That's part of what makes him funny, along with his horsepowers and torques. Hes such a pompous self righteous twit it makes really good telly, unlike that unkempt Brand geezer.
I don't actually watch Top Gear for the cars (does anyone these days?) I watch it for the comedy. Captain Slow and Hamster wouldn't be right without Jezzer with them.

So over 7 million watched the Top Gear which you have to think is quite a high number.......under 200 complained. What is wrong with this country?

These people must be part of the Mary White House group, idiots like this complain for the sake of it, just becasue they can. If they ever get their way could imagine what bland Tv, radio ect we would have?

Maybe we would should ban idiots like this from complaning. Yuor never going to please everyone but we can't keep going with the minority. I would have though if it was that offence then more people watching would have cimplained.

Give it a few days for this be turned itnot the worse thing everything said again I'm sure we will have a line of idiots coming out of the wood work to express their outrage.

I suppose it depends on how the term was inferred? If "prostitute murders" implied that the truckers murdered prostitutes then the truckers could be upset about their cover being blown or perhaps they now prefer to be refered to as road haulage technicians;) or perhaps they are looking for some. Sort of acknowledgement for performing a public service?:smt104

If however "prostitute murderers" was taken to mean they were prostitutes who murdered then you could understand the truckers being upset at been called prostitutes, you could also understand the "prostitute union" being upset at their members being called truckers or not reciving any dies from their trucker members. :cyclopsani:

Oops the BBC will probably want my resignation now.

I've just seen this comment on the Sky news website:

This comment beggars belief. I understand that this was a prerecorded film, so someone has given it the green light to be broadcast. My 7 year old son sometimes watches this show. Absolute filth from a very sick mind. Please sack him.

Doesn't this moron know that Top Gear is a BBC programme? Asking Sky to sack him is a bit pointless.

Apparently there were 188 complaints out of 7 million viewers. That means that only 0.0027% of viewers complained, or 1 in every 24300 (if my calculation is correct).

I've heard that today on GMTV, couldn't believe it myself. Good point Wyrdness :)
I've read the previous thread on the new episode, watched it myself, couldn't stop laughing.
No complaints from me or the .org whatsoever, but as JC says - bikers aren't normal people ;)

Also, it was aired at 9pm... After the watershed... When 7 year olds should, IMO, be in bed any way (or not watching telly!) - especially when it was the last day of the school holidays!

And for the record - my wife and I were both peeing ourselves laughing but I did think "blimey - did he say that!!??" then he said it again (and adain!). Quality!
Excellent entertainment and now one of the few things that I really enjoy watching, that is acceptable to (and watched with!) the wife!

But Clarkson is a right wing reactionary, his appeal is that he is mildly offensive. Personally I can't stand the man, but my twelve year old step son loves Top Gear and watches the loops on Dave. It does worry me that Clarkson is taken seriously though... You would have thought that even the humourless fools who were offended would realise that he is deliberately trying to provoke them...

Mind you, was Peter Sutcliff a Truck driver and I am fairly cirtain he did "off" a couple of hookers... maybe there is something in it after all? :-({|=

As a side issue, do people complain about programs like CSI? They always have stories about hookers being murdered, surely that is prejudicial too? :smt019

Have people really nothing better to do than sit and watch a programme they obviously going to pick holes in and then complain about? if you dont like it why watch it? these "holier than thou" beings that complain about jack sh1tte clearly have done no wrong in their lives and can honestly say they live their lives above reproach? i dont agree with the brand/ross thing either but for farrrrk sakes find something better to complain about.... erm the lack of policing on our roads... the deaths caused by drunken idiots... uninsured drivers blah blah blah... maybe i missing the point here but lifes too short to worry bout who said what when and how inappropriate it was for tv (i assume these people dont have a pc in their homes for their "angelic children who where offended by comments/actions in jest" to peruse the "delights" of the internet? :smt072

"This comment beggars belief. I understand that this was a prerecorded film, so someone has given it the green light to be broadcast. My 7 year old son sometimes watches this show. Lol ... muppets.

Why does the BBC even consider these morons who complain? Any decently run firm would just have a good laugh and continue exactly the same. I'm not sure how much of the shows are pre-recorded, but I hope they take the mick out of some of the complaints next week. could be amusing.

Or maybe even a reality TV special done by Woss and Wussel ... go round to these people's houses, knock on door... scream "DEAD SLAGS" and run off. I think it'd be pretty funny.

the thing is how many people will now complain due to the media...... the same thing happened with Ross and Brand. Not many people complained but once it was in the media the complaints increase and increase. Its the media that really incourage more people to complain 'because you really should not have laughed at that' PC gone mad!!!!!

by the way i was laughing my head off for the whole of Top Gear.

I think the BBC are just a bit paranoid at the minute and hence feel the need bring to light all these daft complaints. Fair enough people may be offended, but what's the point of writing in, why can't they just curse the offender behind his back, he's not gonna give a toss anyway!

I wonder if one trucker has actually complained? Doesn't Mr Stewie drive one? If he's offended then it might be different, the .org would have to pin CLarkson down for even daring to speak against the majority

They won't get rid of Top Gear, he's said things 10x more offensive in the past, back when noone was so touchy about insults. This is only the first of the new series, is it gonna be like this every sodding week?:smt012

I'm beginning to think the journalists and newsreaders of today are just bored and have nothing to report about

No doubt the BBC will have to do a "full investigation" as in the Ross/Brand case. When the decision of that is out, why not write to the BBC as an "appeal on behalf of Mr Clarkson." Post it on here, and a couple of other sites (piston heads etc).

Then see how many people complain about the result of the investigation, compared to how many compained about the incident.

Surely the best thing to do would be to ignore Clarkson and then legalise Prostitution. Thus giving all prostitutes, be they male or female, a safe place to work in a clean and checked building, where the chances of being murdered by Lorry Drivers are greatly reduced.

The other option would be to sack lorry Drivers, but that will only transfer the problem from lorry drivers murdering prostitutes to unemployed people murdering prostitutes. This would in fact reduce the rate of murders because there would be a greater number of unemployed and a smaller percentage of that group actually doing the murdering.

I think it makes sense... :smt019

Can't remember the time I last watched BBC1 either.

amen to that, i laughed all the way through (as i usually do!) and think it's one of the best programmes on telly.

i don't wnat to open another can of worms here but, i watched/listened to the brand, ross thing on youtube earlier and laughed rather a lot! may a little close to the mark at times, but not much different to any other really funny comedy for me (and i don't like brand at all!).
