So thats it decision made, i'll get a look at grants route and work timings back from there once i get a chance.

Now what we need is a list of who is planning to attend and where they're coming from so we can organise meeting points etc. As a rough guide Take Kinross services meeting at 10:30am leaving at 11:00, St Andrews at 13:00 - 14:00 and you can plan your day from there. I'll firm up the timings once i get a chance to check the route etc..

Thanks v much for the offer, insurance I could have sorted, I have third party cover for riding other bikes and the old borrowed bike rule of "bend it you mend it" applies, but Harthill to Fraserburgh's a bit of a trek for a rideout to St Andrews.

the main run is kinross to st A's and the ice cream feast, there are usually a few die yards who go for another blast after. I was going to post a route for this but thought I'd wait as no point planning a route to balloch if the riders are all easties, will also depend on weather, I'm under 3 inches of snow at the moment.
Rough guide is kinross 10:30 st A's 13:30 I'll post better details later today.

Ok here goes.

Firstly the weather looks ****ty and subsequently the likelyhood of this happening is getting slimmer by the snowflake.

Metcheck and BBC both suggest further snowfalls into saturday with temperatures staying the shy side of zero. This means fresh snow cunningly camoflauging ice on all roads, However they say that saturday despite staying cold should have sunny intervals.

For the moment i'll work on the assumption that this is still happening and hope for the best, if we need to postpone then so be it.

Grant, Stuarty what are the fife roads like at the moment, Should we be binning this just now or are you hopefull???

Spearies, is this realistic, I have visions of 4 bikers and bikes on the 6 oclock news parked up between hgv's in a snowdrift at the side of the A90.

The last thing we want is to make this dangerous or even unpleasant for anyone.

Currently I can see no way of getting my bike to the main road as I've a mile of iced compressed snow, hilly twisty roads between my house and tarmac, so really looking for a thaw. get the feeling that gerbrox and Tiger are similarly isolated.

We really do not want any more incidents, there's enough sv's needing some attention at the moment, so assuming no improvement in the weather are you a yae or nae???

I'll post timings etc anyway just now so we have the option.

You know what I'm going to say :) But snow/ice is just silly, we can always reschedule. Think we'll need to see how the weather pans out over the next day or so, 3-day forecasts are just lies generally.

Forecast - 4-8 inches of snow. Event - not a single flake. Also, the clouds that were supposed to bring the snow have raised the temperature enough to melt the ice that had me trapped in the garage so I'm in!

But unless it's officially postponed the final, final decision will get made at 9ish on Saturday morning. If the weather man could really see the future he wouldn't be slumming it on what the Met Office pay.

If your talking 12:45, and taking into account possible weather problems we may have to leave a bit earlier.
As for weather up hear the rain has been falling all day so pretty much all ice and snow has melted despite the weather warnings issued.
Looking at the forecast I'm still in but as others have said I don't think a definite yes or no can be made until about 0900 Sat morning.
