I got that before I did the course. Getting that course was part of my bargaining for me staying put and not taking another job I had been offered.

When I've killed Bucket. It seems quite indestructable though.
Besides, there isn't anything out there I see as a replacement.

Well I can safely say the answer is still I don't want to be one. And that goes for all of the suggestions so far.

Whats wrong with project management? That's what I do!

LOL exactly my friend. I am what one in the trade would call lazy. I do not believe in earning my money. I believe in others earning it for me.
I do not want hassle, I do not want travel, I do not want responsibility. I know that if I want the money then I will have to accept some if not all of those things but in moderation thank you very much.
I get paid quite well at the moment for doing very little. I intend to find another job that will pay considerably more for not a great deal more effort.
Project Management does not come into that scenario.

I seem to remember a conversation along the lines of.....
"and what is it you do ?"
"Oh I'm a cable guy, you know run data cables for a living"
seems like a lifetime ago doesn't it, really chuffed for you mate.
Cheers Mark.

If they are anything liek the PM's at our place then I can understand why you would not want to do it ape. Most PM's at work couldn't find their ass with both hands.

Now you come to mention it Mark, you are so right. I have progressed a bit in a few short years. I thank my stars I actually went on that first interview that took me away from the data cabling lark. I so very nearly talked myself out of going. A days loss of pay to go for an interview where they would have laughed me out of the room. Just goes to show I guess. Never under estimate your own abilities. :) Our chats over time have certainly kept me focused. ;)
So now to rule the world.

I've pretty much decided I want to be a Project Management Office Manager rather than a Project Manager. Like I said before. I don't particularly want to earn my money, I want people to earn it for me.
I've already been in the Project Office environment now for the past 4 years and worked through all the various aspects to this from surveys and proposal documents through to the installations themselves and on to handover. I enjoy it but have decided it is now stale.
I lead a team on quality assurance and handover which I built myself. It works very efficiently and I have little input anymore. It more or less runs itself. So getting bored.
I now want to run the whole show. :)
Only just seen this. Well done!!!
I remember the cable guy comments as well.
I say Si for Prime Minister. At least we'll get decent laws for bikes and bikers! Whaddya mean, you don't want to work that hard??
Congrats
BTW if you EVER think of getting rid of James, I mean er Bucket, I get first dibs. One day I'm going to use him to learn about bike mechey stuff and do him up properly!!
