View Full Version : *sigh* another CHEC thread
If anyone tells you bikes don't have a soul, they're lying.
I've spent the last week or so putting all the standard parts back on the bike, because I've done a deal on a new one (for which there will be another thread later). Now all it does is show CHEC on the dash, and the injectors aren't priming. I've prodded and poked at the usual suspects (clutch switch, sidestand switch) and checked the fuses, but it doesn't want to play.

wave some auto-gymnn under her nose,...
Id saw side stand switch, but you've checked it.
-Is there also a level sensor that detects the bike is not on its side?!?! i think

hav you checked the emergency engine switch ???
yeah, kill switch and sidestand switch appear sound. Will head back out into the garage in a bit with the multimeter to make sure its behaving as it should
is it in neutral? then you can ignore the sidestand switch. A bit more fiddling then it might be worth putting a wire across to put it in dealer mode to get more info (see TPS threads)

Yeah dealer mode it, possibly tip-over switch
hmm... found that copy of the service book that was floating about on here ages ago, and that suggests the tip-over sensor would light the FI in the display.
Got a bit of wire to bridge the connector, and it doesn't seem to have changed anything - still just CHEC rather than a Cxx number showing up. Got a tame electrician coming around soon though, so I'll hopefully have an update when he gets here.

I don't remember anything about the tip over sensor showing on the LCD specifically. Though I think you turn the ignition on/off a few times to reset the sensor - if that's what's causing your problems.
As for it now showing the error codes, these should be where the temp gauge is normally. If you can't see C00 (or some other number) instead of a temperature (or blank), then you've probably connected the wrong two pins together in the connector.

Tip over sensor has a fault code. I think it's 27 but can't really remember... code list is on tl forum somewhere

Nope, it appears they've moved it, just been looking for it & can't see it. :(
Looks like its something to do with the fuel feed, as a quick splicing of wires causes the fuel system related codes (32, 33 and 41).
32 - Fuel Injector No1 cylinder
33 - Fuel Injector No2 cylinder
41 - Fuel pump control system
23 - Tip over sensor.
Not quite as doh-some as others, by the look of it - found a loose wire eventually on the left (facing forward) that wasn't priming the fuel up properly.
Anyway, its gone now, and I'll have some pics of the new steed when I get daylight.
