Just bought my first ipod and have been putting all my old cds on to it. Loving it, it's great, loads of tunes that I'd forgotten about are coming out of my HiFi now.
That's all folks.

mine made it all the way until i first connected it to a PC wherin it decided it was going to melt and catch fire, to apple's credit they replaced it quickly without fuss...
Got a 120GB Zune now and although the software can go eat a d*** pavlova the device is excellent, much nicer screen than the 5G it replaced and a nicer interface, but that's subjective i spose:D
you'll always get Apple haters saying how they are too cool for ipods but Ive had 3 and rate them highly

Love mine, although I bought it to use when walking the dog, it actually just sits in a docking station in the kitchen and annoys the neighbours LOL ...... awesome bit of kit tho. Easy to loose :( done that a few times

LOL he he thats why it's there, I took it to work 3 times and came home without it twice, got back to work and couldnt find it as my desk is a mess and my ipod too small. eventually when I did find it I figured the docking station is the best place.
Yeah I could loose the docking station next LOL :smt019

I have a 2gig aigo something or other, does the job for me. Supposed to have a 35hour battery life, think it does but then i don't exactly count.
Never wanted an ipod, always seem to flimsy and wouldn't like being chucked into my bag and generally being abused in a hurry, which is what i'm usually in lol. Plus, everyone seems to have one, and I don't like to follow a crowd, always head in the opposite direction meee (just antisocial really  )
got a creative zen vision m thing... sounds fantastic but the navigation software is sh!te.. so is the bloddy scroll pad on the front way to sensitive.
but i still like it... only coz i can get lodsa mp3's on it

I also bought a 2GB shuffle for when I'm down the gym/running etc, to hopefully save the more expensive bit of kit from getting abused.
Got 4gig of songs on the main ipod so far, about halfway through my CD collection, must carry on.

I remember having to do that (although I had fewer CDs by the sound of it)... Takes ages! but it's definitely worth it
I'll leave you to it :smt045

So what docking stations are good? I quite fancy one for kitchen/garage duties, nothing too big, but nothing tinny either. Got a 3.5mm to RCA cable for the HiFi so living room is sorted.

One of my mates has got the Bose Sounddock. The sound that thing produces is truely amazing considering its size!
Looks pretty neat as well

[EDIT]: Beaten to it by etuna
I have a series 1 Nano and it works prefectly. I connect in in the car via a Harmon Kardon Drive and play, and all is rosey in the world. I just wish it was a 8gb and not a 4gb.
As for music, i have 144gb(@192kbps) on my PC and im still no where near finished loading it all up

Finally got round to having a look on the web and these are 200 quid plus  (Edit, just seen that the original is 150 quid, but still a little steep for what I'm looking for).
I just want something for the kitchen/garage that is:
a) reasonably portable (i.e all in one and can be lifted and plugged in somewhere else
b) sounds better than a tinny 30 quid radio/casette player.
Any cheaper suggestions?

I was thinking of going up to 75-80 quid if required, but if I can get something to do the job for cheaper I'll be happy ;)
