Just finished watching Roary the racing car with my 2 young sons(8+4)& it set me thinking about childhood memories from when i was around their age(in the late 70s/early 80s)& what programmes i used to enjoy at the time.
Came up with this little lot....

Metal Mickey
Monkey
Chorlton & the wheelies

I grew up in Europe, forces kid, so we had BFBS and not much kids telly.
Then came back to the UK in 86 and discovered kids TV.
Dangermouse,
Get Smart,
The Adams Family,
Knightmare,
Droids.
The biggest shock I had was Saturday morning TV... You actually had it. BFBS would show one episode of Wacky Races or that awful Catch the Pigeon, before Grandstand and that was it.
However I quickly found it to be overly loud and quite irritating and by the age of sixteen was tuning to Radio Four, for the Mary Whitehouse (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JSuMSu20avs) Experience.
