Been using play.com (like a proper loyal customer should) for about 5 years. It's always been one of the cheapest sites for dvds and games but I've noticed it's not as cheap as it used to be. It's starting to line up with the likes of HMV (who always seem to be the most expensive on the high street).

Anyone else noticed this or am I just getting tight as I get older?

example:
http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3516328/-/Product.html?searchstring=chop+shop+london&searchsource=0 - £26.99
http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3516328/-/Product.html?searchstring=chop+shop+london&searchsource=0 - £7.93

can't think of any of the other bits I've noticed over the past few weeks but... bleh.

I think Play.com has got a bit more expensive and others have dropped they prices at the same time because of losing business to play.com

When i worked in WHSmiths in was cheaper to buy items from play.com than Smiths with my discount card.

Don't think it's any more expensive just think most high street shops prices have come down because of websites like play.com, and the so called credit crunch.

I like play.com, prices seem keen to me.
Usually check things against amazon, though dislike amazon website somewhat as often you find something you want only to find its from one of its pikey marketplace traders.

I have just looked back at my 'Previous purchases' It runs to 14 pages!! Blimey

As for the cost. I still think its cheaper than the hight street and the likes of Amazon, free P&P sees to that. However i suppose that its going up in price because everything else is. Just a fact of life really.

Its still very competitive and i still use them, just no where near as much as i used to!

oh yeah dont get me wrong - I've used play for 5 years for a good reason :) I've just noticed that, where they would be the cheapest by 3 or 4 quid usually, they're now around a pound more expensive than other mainstream retailers. Shame really :( Still, amazing range & free delivery always gets my vote :)

As others have said, I think its a combination of retailers pushing their prices up and down accordingly.

I also think it depends on what you buy though..in all the years ive used play.com it hasnt always been consistently cheaper (I got a brand new dvd from hmv which was 2quid cheaper). The majority of DVDs are cheaper, as are the CDs. The books have never ever been cheaper, amazon rules for that.

Anyway, even if the prices have gone up a bit, they're still a bloomin good site :smt040

You are correct. I still use them when they are the same price as others, due to the fact that in 5 years of use, not once have I had a problem with anything I've bought from them, nor with the delivery of it.
