Just picked up a copy of this months performance bike magazine and low and behold my old SV is in there!

Its got a new paint scheme in fetching orange and its had a bit of engine work now but its still recognisable.

also "this sv beats ducati 1098s fact!"

see page 75 for a look

here's what it looked like when i owned it

Its on an aftermarket alloy rear subframe so gsxr race plastics can fit.
I got it from sarah at stevejordan motorcycles who used to have gsxr race plastics on her old sv race bike

ahh so replacement subframe as well .. ok i'll not bother .. lol

I'm tempted to get a pointy with a black frame and make it up to look like that, but with the forks from a K6 gsxr750 so it looks almost like my dads bike.

But...

...I dont have the money, the time, nor the garage space

Not sure how pb mag can justify the "beats 1098" tag.

It states in the feature that the new owner Anthony Porter took third in the darley moor sound of thunder races i'm guessing he beat someone on a 1098 or has faster lap times?? Obviously thats totally subject to the rider of each machine but it sounds good doesnt it

If this gets in PB, maybe DD should send some pics in and details; that looks fantastic in black though.

It's already in PB as evidenced above, and none of Dangerous Dave, dirtydog nor Double D have anything to do with it?

It's in PB. Good article actually. It's what they would do to the SV650 to make it quicker.

I meant that if this SV is being posted in performance bike magazine, they would probably be very interested in what Dangerous Dave has done with his and the immense power he's getting out of it without it blowing up every second.

Your car was just as inspiring as your bike. Good work fella.

+1 what jurno sensationalism bollox is all about ... a bit like when a bike mag said a stock SV Sport kicked butt getting on the podium in a real race ... when you actually looked at the fats he came summin like 3rd out of 4 (in class) in a godforsaken place/club ...

All this said, it is good to see the SV in the media in a positive light and indeed, the OPs x-bike looks really cool 8)

They were asken once, when she was a 750, but they were not interested. Now I can't be bothered anymore, it's all about 1000cc IL4's.

Yeah I know what you mean, Fast Bikes always have the race-rep zx10/gsxrs on their specials list. Performance Bikes tho have had a fair few different bikes on their "obsession" special bikes such as a Super Duke with metal panels and a Vyrus racebike that races alongside sv's, so they might still be receptive...

Yep, I'd try submitting it to PB over Fast Bikes too.

hi i am the owner of the bike mentioned when i recieved the bike the bike was stripped down new swing arm bearings new fork oil new wheel bearings everything was taken off the bike then rebuilt back up extra fairing brackets made so that the wider fairng was bought back in closer to the frame as it grounded out every where. so in a way i did build the bike up also various other bits were swopped brake levers rear shock and a few other items then a few races in i took the engine out cleaned up the head had the cams reground and put it on the dyno added a power commander quickshifter to get what was achieved as for blue sv saying about beating a 1098 in godforsaken place/club all i say is have a go pal you will also see it beat aprillia bikes sp1 triumph 675 although in seperate races if anyone knows these bike whip past the sv down the straight and you have to work extra hard in the corners to get back and i did they also failed to mention that this bike came second in the 400/650 championship which ran 20+ bikes and the 400s are a lot lighter and better handling and most pushing 74-83bhp so it didnt do too bad. the other reason i go to this club which has started many a racers career off is its an hour from where i live and when you have a mortgage and two kids a cheap race weekend is what you need. The reason its not black is cos my mate sponsors me in the way where i get free dyno time and cost spares so i do the bike in his colours the photo doesnt do the bike justice as it looks red but it is more of an illuminous red/orange colour and does look quite well so why do people try to put it and my racing down performance bikes did a feature where they said they could do with a sorted sv with a bigger tank to do an endurance race i offered mine they didnt want it but asked if they could use it for the end feature of the article they did

On a related note: My SV has been faster than both 1098s I've seen out on the road. This is probably more to do with my willingness on one occassion to ride at a reasonable pace in the rain and in the other to filter, rather than anything magic about my SV. ;)

Edit: It also overtook a desmodeci, but I did intentionally drop back and follow it for a couple of miles to listen to his exhaust note. Best sound EVAH!

Christ my eyes are bleeding, but saying that, its a gorgeous bike no matter who done what to it and what races it won!
