I've looked everywhere and cant find em! I don't know what to do now, it's a 2000 Kawasaki KMX, I think the lock is fairly simple could a locksmith mould me a new key or would I have to swap the locks?

culd do both, or try a differant key, as any old key may work;)

lol, don't think that'll work as the key for the seat compartment wouldn't work to turn ignition on but it was exactly the same shape (but different teeth)

look harder, or bypass lock wiring under seat with a toggle switch (still secure with key seat and no outward signs.

Stop looking and give up, and then you'll find it.

You can tell the shape of the key from the code on the ignition barrel IIRC

there used to be a shop in edinburgh that could cut a key from the code on the barrel.

so it must be a common thing... also try ebay for a new one...

I dont suppose anyone knows what key I need? so I can pick up a blank and try and get one made up. Should I just call a regular locksmith?

kawasaki should be able to get you a key from the bikes vin i'd of thought worth giving your local kwak centre a ring could save you swapping all the locks on the bike.

if they can it will require you going it with your log book and id to prove who you are and that the bike is your's

I have the same problem as I just purchased a 2006 sv650s (blue) only 800 miles on odometer. Was an impound, driver was DUI and ran from cops and ditched bike behind a tree. Needless to say it was impounded and fees stacked up and he gave bike up. I think I got a steal at 2300$ US No keys came with bike, so I'll need to order from dealer I'm guessing or purchase new locksets. Im hoping for the best as I purchased without being able to start it. So no idea how hard it was drivin or how well he maintained it. Killing me not having keys yet.

May sound like a stupid sugestion but have you checked you aint left them in the bike? like i said may sound stupid but i'm sure you wouldn't be the first person to do it!!

I lost my bike keys for ages and even though I had the spare one was still bothered by losing them
Then the next time I used the tank bag there it was stuck to the magnets!!

Have you checked?

Nope I never did find them, and that bike was stolen (but there was no ignition in the bike anyway and it was in bits, theft was completely unrelated to loss of keys)
