Hello all great site i am hoping sumone could help me with a few facts about these 2-2 systems!?

i have a K3 sv650s, i was looking at these systems in various places for around £500 for the k3- and managed to come across a fleabay bargain for £250 brand new!!! so naturally i jumped at such a bargain :p

upon arrival i ripped it open to find all is sexy as could be till i looked in the 'technical info' booklet.....here it sez for sv650 04- (k4 i assume)

now i know the k3 has slightly higher rear subframe, but no-one can tell me if it will actually fit my k3 (wiv a few mods mebe?)even tho the part number is same for k3- on laser site as the K4 (in fact there is only one part number....)

i am hoping it'll fit, but wanna be sure b4 i rip all me plastics of to fit the tail-tidy/bracket!

also, laser states that these exhausts "have been developed on a standard motorcycle with standard adjustment. therefore it is normally not required to modify the fuel setup of your machine."

so i dont need a remap or power commander???

hope sumone can put this noob outa his misery! lol

thx in advance
Ampz

hey dude i was thinking about a set of these until the org talked some sense into me anyway you may need to bodge a few bits on but i cant see there being a massive difference between the k3 and k4 mind you i could be completely wrong has it got a manual with it.

i wouldnt av paid the full price for em but was lookin at spending £250 on a blue flame evo an snapped up the bargain

yup it has a manual, sez 04- in the parts list but model numbers is same as 03- on their site...i emailed laser an turned out they have a snails pace ffs

i am itching to whack em on lol

LOL stock system is already chopped from my previous blue flame, had a bit of a lowside so damaged the can and needed a replacement ;)

i have a re-connection sleeve to put original can back on if necessary.....but fook that could never go back to stock! :D

The Laser exhaust is not a performance exhaust, it shouldn't require a remap of the ECU. It is also a half system, it uses the front and rear header pipes from the OEM system.

It adds weight and no power.

Thx for answering remap question for me Dangerous Dave!

so performance wise i would be downgrading from my scuffed blueflame evo?

will try compare the weight of stock can/pipes to laser/cans pipes (minus the headers of course) they feel light as a feather individually

in all fairness on the power side of things, ive only been riding 8 months and feel theres plenty of that atm, so the cans are mainly for their cool factor/sound rather than extra ponies (sad i know lol)

my blueflame seemed to smooth out power delivery a bit sumhow so hoping the lasers will do the same

will update on the weight comparison tho

thx for your input peeps :)

Wont be a downgrade, they are about equal. Nobody has made an effective 2-2 for the SV yet.

It is a downgrade, they weigh a ton.

Scuffed cans are where it's at. Precision weight saving :-P

how heavy is the original bazooka i heard around the 6kg figure if so whoaahhh cant wait to stick my new un on at 1.9kg it's nothing to the old one haahaha.

lo again soz i aint got bck on sooner works been hell......

anyways, i weighed the stock pipes and can (not the inc headers) and they were a massive 9.2 kilos!!!

then i weighed the laser system, the 2 cans, ALL the pipes/fixings/brackets and clamps and shock horror it weighed..........9.1 kilos lol

u can tell by the pic below the pipes are defo lighter with a simpler design but the cans more than made up for it

http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2231/11182008454ut1.th.jpg (http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11182008454ut1.jpg)http://img209.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif (http://g.imageshack.us/thpix.php)

all the pipework is on so it does fit my k3 (tho was tight lol), will post more pics on completion

Aye, the downpipes are lighter but you adding an addition link pipe and silencer. This is one reason why I'm not a fan of twin systems as they don't really offer any weight advantage, there isn't one which helps the SV breather any better, and they offer no performance increase. Yet the cost the same, or more in some cases, as a decent 2-1 race system.

Should do too, it was designed for the K3. It is the K4 onwards where you start to get problems, the clearance between the cans and rear tyre is restricted due to the lower subframe but the pipework still aligns up.

i quite like the twin systems because i like the symetrical look lol.

cant wait to see this finished

well heres the result so far.......all thats left is shave 2mm of either side me no plate (as it touches cans dont want it to melt lol) and fab up a indicator bracket extender fingymabob of sum sort!

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/3389/11202008464rd7.th.jpg (http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11202008464rd7.jpg)http://img149.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif (http://g.imageshack.us/thpix.php)

will post pics of indicator bracket when made and of course of it all on the bike

overall i am VERY happy with this set-up, it sounds much better than my blueflame evo3 and sumhow balances out the rear end better cosmetically, i'll let u all judge for yourself ;)

once me bracket is sorted will be fitting the crash protectors and lower fairing/cowling.....which is a diff colour to rest of bike (thunder grey) so could look either really bad or really cool lol

above all thx for the warm welcome and advice, much appreciated :)
