best way to remove ACF50 from brakes?

School boy error but I liberally coated my bike in ACF50 yesterday and it must have seeped down the forks onto discs. Had an "interesting" experience as I got very close to the back of a bus yesterday....

Presuming something stronger than soapy water is required. Have tried keeping brakes on for a bit in back lanes but the bite still hasnt returned yet.

brake cleaner should do it. so would any degreaser or bike cleaner even muck off with warm water. lots of hard braking from highish speeds on empty roads would also help.

I think you might near to bear in mind that you might have contaminated the pads as well... not sure how to fix that if you have though.

Brake cleaner, and get them hot.

I did the same at the weekend! Have cleaned them down with paraffin but not been out since. Will that do the job or could I have made it worse?

They work if you pull the lever hard enough, but nowhere near what they were before.

Noooooo Not parafin!! Its an oil so as good as WD40 or similar.

Get some brake cleaner. You need an alcohol based solvent and thats what it is. For contaminated pads, Brake cleaner, a wire brush and some wet and dry.

I contaminated some MTB disc brake pads a little while ago, they were hopeless, no matter how much I tried to get them hot.

Took them out, stuck them in the oven for half an hour and they were good as new!

Shouldn't be so hard to generate the heat required on an SV though!
