I am looking for a new digital camera, i want something that is rechargeable, pretty small/good looking, decent resolution (8MP?)
Hoping to spend £70 ish. Also have a discount voucher of £5 off Tesco Direct if i spend over £50 there.
Any thoughts???
Its a minefiled it really is. Pick a name brand, so the likes of Nikon, Cannon, Fuji and get one of them. Im not a fan of Casio cameras. Sony cameras are rebadged Minolta so they are good as well.

last xmas i got my gf a casio EX-Z1050 in pink....
it was about 150 at the time but with how fast technology changes might be less now?
its 10.1 megapixel, 3x optical zoom, you can also record videos with it and the quality is superb and its small.
only digital cam i can comment on im afraid but highly recommended

What Viney said, but also try to bear in mind that the key to a good picture isnt necessarily down the number of megapixels your camera is able to shot with.

Whatever you end up considering, a couple of websites are useful for reviews etc
dpreview (http://www.dpreview.com/) and steve's digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/)
I like Canons, but to be honest there are a host of perfectly decent digicams from all the well known makers at very reasonable prices these days. You don't really need 8Mp (if that becomes a deciding factor), mine is only 4 and produces very good images, the limit only comes if you want to crop and enlarge images.
A friend recently picked up a Vivitar very cheap for their daughter, £30 ish, and I have to say that the picture quality is quite amazing (it has a very respectable lens).
Really small ones tend to be a bit more than your budget, less = more.

Boots had one on offer at 50% off, £89 for 8mp. It's a Fuji & although I've got a different model, I've always been impressed with the picture quality.
Apart from big mega pixel numbers, always go for the optical zoom number 3x is the norm, but the higher the number the better. Digital zoom is a bit of a con, as it doesn't really zoom.

Ok, looked on Tesco Direct for ya.
The Fuljifilm J10 is a good camera £80
Or the Sony S730 would be my choices on there.
Casio use a very cheap lens. Reading reviews etc they never get as good a write up as Sony, Cannon, Fuji etc. I admit, they are good featured but the quality is poor compared to rivals. However, this is all subjective in real terms, if it looks good for you then you cant ask for more.
Its true what fizz says. The main thing in any camera is the Lens. My phone has over double my original digital cameara, but the picture is better on my old Cannon 2mp camera then the phone.

We have used Cannons at work and the picture quality is great from these too.
Bought my Fuji off fleabay, 2nd hand, but as new, never had any problems with it.
Had a Samsung before that, 2nd hand off EBAY again, and that was ok. Shutter lag was a problem with this, but it was an old camera by the time I bought it. But the picture quality was ok. It still works too.
We gave our daughter a tesco's own brand. Tiny and £29, but picture quality is poor.
Go for a major brand

My Canon Ixus 800 is getting on a bit, still works perfectly, holds a charge, takes pretty decent pictures, fits in my pocket. If I was to lose it or break it, I'd buy whatever the new version is. (OK, I did break it, it sorta kinda fell in half after I dropped it off a bridge- but I taped it back together and it still goes... Then I filled it with rain at the AR, and the image stabilisation went mad, but that got better too)
So, yeah, Canon Ixus. Always been good quality, always been tough and dependable. My old APS one was the same.
A buddy at work has one of these:

Not a bad price either from a 'camera' maker'.
I still have a 3 year old IXUS 50 5mp Canon, still working fine, plenty of pixels and a reasonable lens
