trying to bind all those controls to a console controller will be like riding a bike using only your thumbs, plus the controller will cripple the FPS style of playing...

Best RPG / FPS since oblivion, racked up about 20 hrs on it (360) not even on the same planet as the likes of farcry2 which i percivered with for 1 hr before trading in. Complete freedom to go / do what ever you want, accidentally blew the world up earlier and had to go back to a previous save, must think about why doing things rather than just doing them cause i can.
Very good handicaping of which weapons affect which creatures / armour types and accurately calculates damage and range factors, much more accurately than the likes of COD where you can snipe across an entire map with a sub mc gun:confused:
could be the basis for the first free flowing online rpg / fps on the 360, certainly make you more carefull about getting into a battle if you were likely to lose (say 50% of ) your weapons / salvage.
Loved Oblivion, this definately looks to be better.

TBH Obivion for me was dull... Played it for a while but I just got bored with it. IMO these open world games suck :( Not my cuppa. Give me a story line any day. Compaired to the first 3 fallouts I dont like it after the hour I played it.

Indeed PC. Xbox 360 and PS3 are just playing at it... But if you HAVE to choose then 360 as the PS controller sucks :(

Sorry guys, have to disagree, only games i prefer on the pc are strategy, C+C, LOTR etc, and i remember back to real rpgs where the trick was to type, "troll bump rock" rather than push, move, hit, shove, those were the days, bring back elite (now that's going back a bit) loaded off a 5.1/4 inch floppy.:smt003
new fangled wireless thingybobs, bah humbug.:smt099
All time favourite game Rivwer raid on the atari, closely followed bu jungle strike on the Sega, Its like wagon wheels as big as your face when you were wee, no matter how good things get they just cant compete with memories..

only problem though is it costs alot of money to keep a pc playing the latest games smoothly if you buy a 360 at least you know you can play everything and it's gonna work properly.:)

Started playing it the other day..got out of the bunker went to the small town, got bored!
Will carry on after i've finished....
Jericho
Dead space
Call of duty - world at war
Grid
Far cry 2
Flatout ultimate carnage
Sooo maybe awhile off :-)
Seriously you need to play it just that little bit longer.
I was the same, when I had no weapons, no armour and had just started I thought the game was abit crap and couldnt get into it......then I played it a little bit longer and started meeting supermutants and got to the Citadel.......the game is just amazing and you have probably only see 2% of the entire world map if you have only got to Megaton.

I don't like traditional RPGs much. I've never been into Orcs/barbarians/what have you fantasy settings. I have, however, always enjoyed the fallout games. Very nice surreal humour that somehow adds to, rather than detracts from the gritty struggle of life in a post-nuclear world. It's not really a traditional RPG, neither is it really an FPS. The game that sprung to mind most in terms of comparison was the original Deus Ex. They've managed to make a fantastically detailed, yet vast game world and you could spend hours just exploring and not doing any quests. The choice/free will element is excellent and I can really see myself playing through it a second time in order to make different choices, because it would be so different.
This is easily in my top 10 games of all time and I play it far more than even GTA IV (which I bought at the same time).

the G80 architecture was released more than two years ago, my 8800 Ultra was purchased used and it still comprehensively urinates all over the most powerful console hardware...
just because PC hardware has moved on in leaps and bounds since the last console release, and games *can* use massive resources doesn't mean you have to ramp up all the settings, the majority of titles can be run on low graphical settings on a lower end computer so you get that authentic console experience;)

I have 2 8500gt's running in combi, as you might guess i've had them for quite awhile. Also if you look at my previous post regarding what i'm playing at the moment you will see that most of them are relatively new.
No need to spend lots of money every couple of years.
My basic setup:
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ (2411 MHz)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP x64 (Service Pack 2)
DirectX version: 9.0c
GPU processor: GeForce 8500 GT

The only game that will eat almost any setup is Crysis :( Im pretty sure if they tried to run this on a console you would soon have a heap of molten metal and slag :p

Well yes 360 reliability isnt too great. Though mine survived a dousing of Cyder ha ha. Well it needed drying then it worked again. lol. I do prefer consoles for racing games... That I got to give them due for. But online FPS, PC ALLLLLL the way. UT3 BABY! :smt003

Fallout 3 (got it on xbox 360) looks fabulous but there's something about riding a horse and sword fighting that feels better for me. The one thing I cannot get used to is the maps, they are so hard to read, Oblivion's were much clearer. But the more I play it the better it gets.
For PS3 I got Far Cry 2 and disappointed, now that can be a pain going from place to place for missions. COD WoW is just brilliant. Wish I'd got it for 360 as servers seem better but my mate only has PS3 and I wanted to do Co-op mode.
Dont forget FIFA 09!

or more importantly what resolution...
1024x768 with medium settings isn't anything near the kind of hardware destroying full settings at 1680x1050 or 1920x1080 with things like soft shadows or reflective water enabled

i can run at 1680x1050 with high settings no AA though... saying that you dont really need it at these resolutions imo (Cant do highest, kills the system 15fps :-? :() and get about 30-40 fps at all times on the 9800GTX. So looks pretty good :)

i wouldn't take the mick out of someone's hardware unless they were trying to unjustifyably defend it, the phenom does it's job just fine
so anyway... back to fallout 3 - i finally decided to sit down and play for a couple hours tonight and after bit of exploration ended up at the:
***possible spolier***
GNR HQ, finally the game starts to get a bit more interesting, the mutant behemoth was fun and the temptation to ice one of the knights and steal their armour was almost uncontrollable;)

i almost gave up soon after starting as it was "just another RPG" - get going on the "follow in his footsteps" quest and get into the city the GNR HQ and things improve
perhaps it's just me coming from FPS games or playing through the first time on easy mode (i seem to have amassed a haul of stimpaks and ammo like some kind of one man army now though), but the supermutants aren't that hard to kill are they? get their attention, lure them close then three shots in the head with the hunting rifle, search the corpses and you get 5/6 rounds back, rinse and repeat
now the brutes are a different story, bloody miniguns...:p
Lazer rifle and Tesla suite = unstoppable
Cant remember if I have the Tesla Suit or Enclave Power Armour equiped at the moment.

Those who claim you need to upgrade a PC every 6 months to play games clearly know very little about PC's then!
My PC was 18 months old and still ran Crysis at High settings at 1660x1050, ran HL2 with ease maxed out and pretty much any other game you care to mention. Don't fall for the hype that a 6 month old machine is outdated. Build your own system and it'll last two years easy and still beat most consoles in the GFX dept.
I know have 2 4870 X2's in Crossfire. The limiting factor is now heat dissipation!

i think you need to increase your strength to carry more, no sure how, i just take over an abandoned raider house and use it as a base to launch forays into DC so i store all my junk there, apparently if you
disarm the bomb in megaton you get given a house there
to make dogmeat immortal you press the ` key, above left tab, and enter "setessential 0006a772 1" without the quotes and hit enter. this makes him an essential character and although he can be knocked out he won't die

do you install an xbox game in the same way as a pc game? ie: copy files to the HDD and open them from there
the game config files need to be edited, whether it's within the game itself or externally, if they're on a DVD that you insert each time you play then you won't be able to edit them

ZSV650... Sorry but its not going to happen :(.
I started playing Fallout (the origional) again. Got Fallout 1,2 and Tactics for £6.41 lol. Anyway, wow what a COOOL game. I forgot how good it was. I love it :D :D :D
I just got into a place called the Glow, so called because its radio active as hell! Guess a bunker buster Nuc must have smashed the place. Anyway I used a rope to climb down into the bunker, it was littered with burnt bodies. I used Rad-X for the radiation and started looking about for some proof that I had been there so I could join the Brotherhood of steel. Found a dead brotherhood fella and got a hard drive looking thing off of him. Then went further in activating backup power as main was down. Managed to get down to level 6 but couldnt activate a lift to get to level 5 (level 5 is on a seperate lift).
This lift for level 5 though wouldnt work with just the backup power so I had to find the main generator and fix it. Managed to find it and after a few attempts at fixing it and reading some books to get better at fixing. managed to get the generator back up and running and made my way towards the lift. I then found a super computer, talked to it about what the bunker was for and found out that it belonged to the company that made power armour for the government and they also produced the FEV virus (this makes supermutants). I then had a few games of chess (not in real life unfortunatly, would have been a cool mini game :)) with it and left it for the lift.
Got up the lift and was met with robots which had been activated when I turned on the main power. I managed to beat them, thanks to me having a shed load of stim packs (over 90, steal skill is soooooo worth it) and made my way to the armoury. Was a little gutted to find there was no power armour there but I got combat armour a plasma gun, plasma and laser pistol, mini gun an a bit of other madness. Woot. Only think it I had 10% with energy and heavy guns :smt019. So I been working towards Energy weapons since. So after this I made my way out of the bunker and back to the brotherhood to show what id found and see if they would let me join. :D
Get the origional, its BRILLIANT... as long as you dont mind isometric views and turn based gaming, it does work though I can tell you.
Take care out there :p
