Anyone got a solution??

They have that silly protection where if the battery hasn't got enough charge they won't turn on.
Thing is I have started my bike up many a time and rode it and the things still won't turn on.

Just wondering if there is anyway to bypass this feature. My battery is fine and it starts the bike up first time everytime so not quite sure whats going on.

have you tried turning them on 10 mins after bike has been running?

also check the wires

Hey Hovis.

I went out for a good stint and they never came on. I have checked the wires all present and correct.

When I press the on switch the blue light comes on for about a second then goes out. Which I think is because it is reading a low voltage???

I haven't multi-metered it yet. Think ill do that later today to check all is fine.
Have you put your straight onto the battery Hovis?
I have wired mine so thay they will only come on with the ignition on. Should still be 12V tho surely. Plus when they first went on they worked fine from that feed.

mine go straight to battery

Might try straight to battery in case the ingition way is losing a volt.

I've got heated grips on the blackbird but they've stopped working too. But they are a very of set with just an on of switch and no variable temperature. Keep meaning to have a look at the how it's wired but I'm a lazy toerag

Chuck them in the bin and get heated gloves.

Heated gloves..

I saw them last year, they took batteries, have you got them?
What are they like and how much were they..

I have Gerbing heated gloves. The are wired directly to the bike battery. What they like? Lush and warm in ANY weather regardless of how cold it gets.

They cost way more than a set of heated grips, however. You can transfer them to every single bike you are ever going to own. The electrics have a life time guarantee and regardless of what your hands are doing, they are getting heated all of the time.

Worth the cost and then some.

Hmmm. How much of a PITA do you find it wiring yourself up?

Has anyone crashed them?

The wiring harness stays in the jacket. Plug the gloves in to the wires at the end of the sleeves. Plug the main jack at the bottom of the jacket into the socket on the bike. The process takes about 3 seconds longer than putting normal gloves on.

All is okay.
I wired them straight to the battery and its was fine.

Weird though as I metered the connection I was using and it was reading 14v whilst idleing yet they just wouldn't turn on.

Wish I had done this before going for a ride. My hands were ffffeeereezing.

Having some problems with mine at the moment...

The grips have been working fine on the SV for a year and were fitted to the Falco a few months back. They worked ok for a few weeks but recently have developed an intermittent fault and finally stopped switching on at all.

So, I got a replacement controller off ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390129351375), fitted it today and it's not looking good, the problem is they switch off after 20 seconds.
I remember from the SV, that when the voltage was low (bike idling) they switched off, however earlier the diodes used to flash 2-3 times before cutting out, now it just dies.

I've bypassed the relay, no change.

The controller is getting 14V, puts out 10V for each grip. I thought the wires might be shorting, but both grips measure 12-13 Ohms resistance.

I realise that the most common fault with these are the controllers, but 2 in a row?
