Im not one for ranting usually, but this morning I received a threat of legal proceedings against me for non payment of council tax. So I rang the council to point out that I am in fact up to date, the response I got was this
''oh yes, we know you are up to date, in fact our records show you genearally pay it up to 3 weeks early''
so why am I being threatened with legal action ? cos I cancelled my direct debit with them cos I prefferred to pay it early and that is classed as a ''default'' so even though Im paid up for Novemeber and will be paying Decembers next week, Im still being threatened with the courts...Should of stayed in St Helens.

Let them take you to court, could be a laugh.

Judge: "So, let's hear the case for the prosecution. What are the value of the arrears?"

Prosecution: "Nothing."

Judge: "Nothing?"

Prosecution:"Nothing. The defendent is up to date with payments your honour"

Judge: "Well sod off and stop wasting the courts time then!"

Shocking that......I pay mine by direct debit, and you pay for 10 months of the year and 2 months you dont pay Feb and March?

Why did you cancle the direct debit out of interest? surely its easier that way?

This is another one like the thread about road tax, paid but they claim you haven't.

I'm with the others, if I knew absolutely 100% I was in the right, I'd just tell them I'll see them in court.

Personally, I'd let them take me to court. When it gets thrown out, counter claim. :)

Would that not go down as a CCJ on your credit history, whether or not you were found in the right/wrong.

How do things like that work? I have a spot on credit rating would be gutting to knacker it just because you wanted to play games......just something to think about.

Because a CCJ has to be AGAINST you for it to appear on your credit history. If you win there is no CCJ.

Stewie, tell em to see you in court, win, claim for costs, damages, harrassment, anything you can get. Teach the arrogant git's a lesson! Not on DD so in default!!! FFS!!

This 'threaten with legal action at drop of a hat' attitude gets my goat. It's bullying plain and simple. Gits!

No, a CCJ is only on your rating when you are taken to court for a debt and loose. Any case where you are up to date and can prove it would be rejected very early on, as you would submit the proof with your defence.
