ok i know i'm a cheep skate. i got one of those cheep ebay tail tidy's from a company in germany (romatech). the quality looked really good and well made.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-SV-650-1000-Kennzeichentraeger-RoMatech_W0QQitemZ310101470025QQihZ021QQcategoryZ4 9935QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l 1262

went to fit it today and it fits no problems. but there is now a great big gap where the original mudguard went, its the part where the original mudguard contours the gap between the light and the under tray...

anyone else have this problem with any other tail tidy?

i have a K8 650 Sport.

Hmmm....sounds a little familiar. I fitted an R&G tail tidy to my K8 Sport last weekend and have a noticeable gap where the tail tidy fixes to the mounting lugs on the brackets.

Will take some pics to show what I mean when I get chance.

I think they are all like that, the subframe and the bodywork are a distance between each other which not all tail tidies fill.

I think the EvoTech and Hamicad ones fill the gap with an additional Plate.

the evotech has a neoprene/foamy covered metal coverplate which fills the gaps. i fitted mine about 2 weeks ago :)

What gets me, is that, the companies that make these tail tidies, know that there's a gap after fitting them, so I don't know why they don't just make them a bit wider - or just simply fit correctly. When I got my PUIG tail tidy, it came with plastic triangles to fill the gap, but the triangles looked tacky, so I didn't bother. The gaps will only bother you for a while because you've just put the tidy on (and will keep looking at it!!!). After a while you'll forget that there's even a gap there. Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to fill the gap.

Chin.

Yup, the german one is crap. I emailed them about the gap, but they couldn't care less. I ended up putting some foam in, as I was worried about water getting in.

The Pointy has a Tail Tidy or Undertray, where as the Curvy has just an Undertray.

ah right i didnt realise that, obviously then the number plate and indicators would then fit straight to the undertray.

suzuki do sell undertrays for the curvy dont they?

Aye....

Hard to get hold of now, you may have to go direct to the manufacturer (TCP (http://www.tcpsa.com/)) and speak to there Dutch importer who dealers with the UK now.

Yeap, the reflector fits on to the little tab below the numberplate light and on top of the numberplate bracket.

None left in stock (might be one or two in the less popular colours) and they won't order any more for a bike they no longer sell. They were made by TCP (http://www.tcpsa.com/suzuki/sv650sc.htm) aerodynamics, so you could try them. Best undertray for curvy IMHO, as comes complete with the battery box and number plate lamp mount (you don't have to use the OEM one though).

EDIT: DD beat me to it

one thing i have noticed is that the numberplate on the suzuki undertray will sit in the same place as it does standard so its pointless for me because i want the number plate much higher

No it doesn't, because the curvy plate is mounted down on the rear mudguard. The undertray does away with the rear mudguard and the number plate moves up a couple of inches. Looks loads higher than standard as so much more of rear tyre exposed.

FIZZ - any photos of the Suzuki undertray on your curvy arouns?

The blue one above is a complete swap, you unbolt the OEM undertray and fit the Roca one.

The red one requires you to cut down the OEM one, this allows you to retain the OEM tray inside.

Similar design but Pyramid (http://www.pyramid-plastics.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_95_736&osCsid=639715b994f4b603d5d06d119cdab41a) are of better quality for £89, they can supply them colour matched at £129 too

Unfortunately have a look here (http://www.banditmaniashop.co.uk/sv650-99-02-undertray-painted-930-p.asp) at Banditmania, they cost £145 colour matched.

OK - finally got round to taking photo's of how my tail tidy fits (or doesn't). Am I being stupid or do they all fit this bad?

That one looks terrible, I am right in thinking yours is protruding past the body work rather than being buried behind it?

Yep...bought it off someone on here who previously had it on a pointy.

I took off the seat cowl etc, put the tail tidy on, fits ok no i.e. no trouble tightening the bolts etc, but it seems like the spacers are way too long and it sticks out miles.

Dangerous Dave

Hmmm... it's you again!

Not known one to have spacers before, they usually bolt straight onto the subframe the same way the OEM shovel does.

Do you know what make it is?
