I've got a pair of 750 k6 forks that are absolutely mint. (want to use them as they are black rather than gold). I'd like to use a pair of k4/5 750 yokes but i'm unsure if they'll fit. The k6 fork is 50mm diameter for the top yoke and 53 or 54 for the bottom. Is there anyone out there who knows what the dimensions are for the earlier yokes. Ta Paul

Cheers Dave,
Sounds like the yokes are the same. Recon I can get a k4/5 top and bottom yoke and then buy a new wheel (from Delkevic) and use that! Less hassle with the steering stops, ignition switch, etc.
Anyone know of any probs out there?

What model SV have you got again?

A Delkevic wheel is quite costly, you can find cheaper secondhand ones in great condition.

PS. like the signature.

I did PMSL when I read that thread! How you two doing? I'm still keeping this htread quiet from other half

Actually, I can't find much on fleabay, and nothing drastically cheaper...

I've got a pointy K3 in Blue, so the black forks will go better than the gold.

In that case yes, it should all fit together. Double check the disc sizes first, can't remember the diameters off of the top of my head, as you may need to space the callipers back or use the larger disc's.

You don't want SRAD yokes for the curvy. Yokes from the later gixxers will drop right in. See the link the greek boys signature.

Aye, we have corrected this now I know he has the Pointy but I will add in the 'K' model diameters to the previous post.

06/07 are 53mm and 04/05 54mm

Should that 1mm make a difference? I would have thought that there would be enough play in the bottom yoke to take this into account.....
.... Of course I have been know to be wrong......

Don't do it.

Just get hold of the yokes from the same year or equivalent.

just out of curiosity what are the dimensions of a pointy steering stem, diameter and length like

length is 258mm and bearing diameter 30mm.

looking at new bearings (SV and GSXR 750 k7 use the same bearing), but was slightly put off by the cost. Saw these (https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=0&sort=2a&search_3fields=1&term1=30&term2=55&term3=17&x=37&y=10), and wondered if they would do the job. They're definately cheaper, OEM suzuki bearings are £35.70 (+VAT?).

Give them a ring and get hold of some koyo ones.

I've moved onto the wheel now, and found that getting hold of the appropriate wheel is a bugger. The Delkevic wheel is actually cheaper to buy, but it apparantly only fits up to K4 machines.
I had a look on Alphasport's website and the part number for the bearings and spacers are the same for a K4 and K6 GSXR 600/750. So they will fit onto the spindle correctly (in principle), but what is the width of a K6/7 hub? Is it narrower that a K4 hub? Or is it because that the mounting holes for the 310mm disks are different than for 300mm disks...
Delkevic sent this info on hub dimensions:
"The width of the hub from sprocket do disk is 130mm, however the total width including the bearing housing is 150mm"
The distance between the forks (along the spindle) on the K6/7 is 154mm, and the thicker part of the spindle creates a 14mm spacer on one side.
Any ideas?

Look at the link in the greeks signature. Has a lot of info about what wheels are compatible with what.

Spindle is the same diameter, think it is a little shorter in length from K6. Not sure on the hub width, the main difference is the alignment of the disc bolts.

yes, wheel will fit.k4 and k6 wheels are interchangeable.k4 has axle as spacer while k6 has separate spacer.difference is in rotor diameter and rotor bolts spacing.

So the buggerance is with finding a 310mm disk that'll fit onto the k4 wheel.......
I wonder if it can be done. I've found a couple of K6 wheels on fleabay but they're either going for silly money (£300+), or they are manky....
Will keep on the hunt, but will also see if I can find some 310mm rotors that might fit.

or 320mm rotors and caliper spacers.

This is where it gets interesting!

Delkevic seel their aluminium wheels on their website for £179 - on ebay they are going for £130 from Delkevic.
The SV1000 disks can be bought for £195 from Zone Products on ebay.

And all the other little bits are coming along well.

I've fitted the K7 forks and yokes without any problems; the stops work perfectly (got new bearings in as well). The only issues is with the ignition unit, but with a bit of filing and running the cable through the left side of the head stock it will be fine.

Chuffed to bits with how it looks, just after a pair of Heli-Bars or adjustable clipons to finish it off!

Quick question:
Will these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330300045244&_trksid=p2759.l1259) work?

Will need drilling for all the locators and the brake reservoir, but apart from that?

Dangerous Dave
14-01-09, 05:41 PM
That is exactly what I have pictured above, they are LSL Match Tour's, and as long as the internal diameter is 50mm they will fit.

No need to drill for the locating tabs, just cut them off and wrap some insulation tape around the bar for a tighter fit. You can use a modified bar end to mount the reservoir too, no need to drill the clip-on.

Cheers DD! I had a bit of a fiddle with the ignition unit, but nothing that a round file couldn't sort out.
Got to replace the throttle cables though as the outer sleeve has given up the ghost.
Only need to get the new tyre fitted (going with a 120/70 Z6), pick up a pair of heli-bars or the like and finish off placing the hall efect sensor.

Wasn't too sure if these K7 750 forks would work out, but I really do like it!

The only odd bits, in my opinion, are the gold stanchions (too bling for the SV) and the black lower fork assembly. I don't know why but I always feel it looks better when it matches the swingarm colour (odd I know).

It's a fair point. There were a couple of reasons I went down this route.
The main reason was the fact that the gold forks would have just looked wrong against the blue and silver of my bike, the black does work better (apart maybe for the gold bits), This of course means that in the future I might have to look at what I can do with the swing arm and rear wheel...
The second reason is that I picked up the forks, bottom yoke, spindle, and fender all for less than £300 - all in absolutely mint condition.
Thinking about the amount of black that there is on the front end now, I may get the wheel powder coated silver - dunno yet.

Dave, you'll agree that we always need to leave ourselves with a reason to fettle;)

Caddy2000

Ta all,

Jamie,
The GSXR 750 K7 forks, bottom yoke, spindle, and mud guard were £300 (totally mint!)
The wheel was from Delkevik for a K3-4 GSXR 600-750 £130
Rotors are for a SV1000 from a shop on Ebay - £?? I think about the £190 mark
Top Yoke GSXR 750 K7 £60
Brakes GSXR 600 K7 £60
Tyre Metzler Z6 120/70 £100
Bearings from an online bearing shop - so much cheaper than Suzuki and much better quality - Thanks to YC for the heads up on that one.
Clipons are from a TLS1000 from a very nice gent from the forum for a very reasonable cost, but £30 a pair is about right. (although I'm already looking for Heli-bars.
There was a lot of little bits I bought from both Suzuki (washers, spacers, etc) and bolts from Pro Bolt. It gets a bit mad when a titanium top nut from Pro Bolt costs less than the standard top nut from Suzuki!

Hope that helps - It is worth it!
