My chavy neighbours have turned theirs on. Is this an early light record?

Drew will not let me put lights up on our house!

My parents always have put lights up, drew's parents don't as his mum hates them.

I'm sure i can come up with a plan to put some up while drew is out one evening. But if i do will be in December

"Cratchit, you're working through christmas"

“But, sir, what of Tiny Tim?”

“Bah, he and his ukulele shall go wanting”

missus keeps asking "When are we putting our tree up?" so i say "How about 1st december?" then she says no its too early. What teh feck? if exactly 25 days (which is approximately 3 weeks and 4 days before xmas day) is "too early" for xmas decorations, then the supermarkets must be absolutely mental

As a non Christian I find this custom most strange.

After all, why would I welcome any form of good will and cheering spirit into my home during the cold bleak winter months?

Actually the best Christmas I ever had was on a mountain, tucked up in my sleeping bag with a couple of climbing friends. OK, we only had risotto for Christmas Dinner and some chocolate, but the people I was with and the surroundings made that my best one so far. You don't need lights, just a very warm sleeping bag when it is -20 degrees celcius and you have to dig a hole in frozen ground just to poo in!

Theres a few houses near mine that are lit already.

a lady from work helped her daughter set the xmas tree up at the begining of november !

absolute madness in my opinion

Our street seem to be in competition, they'll probably go up sometime before the end of november. Hideous. And all the more ridiculous- the house next door have everything under the sun inflated and lit up outside their house, but we hear them regularly telling their kids to eff off..

I have my Bah Humbug tshirt at the ready. ;)

There is a counsel estate near where i live where about 10 houses have a competition to see who can be the most outrageous (think national lampoons Christmas vacation). it looks like a row of slot machines from a distance but there is literally a line of traffic driving into and out of the estate to have a good laugh at them. NIE must be rubbing their hands with joy!!!

if we celebrated xmas any other time, say in the summer, i think the big fella upstairs would begin to find the custom very strange.;)

Thanks to all the money Mrs Thatcher invested in Northern Ireland, NI has the best public housing in the country.

cheap motoring to boot, the tandem garage is a testament to that.

My neighbours put up a 9ft tall inflatable snowman last year, which looked lovely when it was all lit up.

It's a shame it mysteriously deflated and had to be put away.

my street are all the same ! they light every house up in the road so people think there doing such a nice thing but then they all bitch about each other behind there backs.

every year the road is on the news, how embarasing. one guy has an inflatable santa bigger than his garage and it has to run off a massive bouncy castle genertor.

good rifle practice me thinks from my back wall
