...from my laptop? I was viewing my homepage on facebook (don't know if it had owt to do with that, doubt it) and I went to click on something and my laptop uttered a loud-ish BEEP.
Nothing came up on the screen, everything still as normal...any reason as to why it happened?

no a Dell. And usually quite good. It's a bit slow at the minute, needs more RAM lol.
I guess the beep isn't much of a deal, I'm just intrigued as to why it did it, scares me a bit lol.

Did you have the laptop sitting on a bed or something that could cover up the vents and make it overheat?

nope its on the desk. I always make sure to put it on a large hardback book if I'm using it on the bed or on my lap, I know they can overheat easy.
Cheers for the replies guys.

probably just nothing, my laptop usually gets thumped very hard when i plays up :), its now designated to the garage
It could be that an advert on facebook using flash played a beep through your speakers.
It could be that Windows sound events had been changed somehow to beep on click of certain objects (Vista does it by default on menu clicks).
It could be hackers attacking the laptop & it gave you a "silent alarm beep." (Figured I'd better put the smiley so you don't get paranoid).
To be honest though, without hearing it, it's hard to tell.

It's telling you that you've exceeded your limit of personal nude photos and need to dump some of them via email to me.

did you just pull out in front of someone?
if its a screechy beep.. it may be your hard drive bearings about to give up the ghost... back up all your important data onto DVD or CD...... NOW
if it's a systems beep might be your power supply is unplugged/loose and your battery is getting low.
or system is telling you its getting a bit hot.. check that your fan is not full of dust.

 well I wouldn't say it was screechy, it definitely wasn't unplugged, it's usually wired up to mains regardless the last one is the most likely but I wouldn't want to go near the fan, don't know how :(
Just to repeat, I've not heard this beep before which makes me think it might be something up with it, but then the screen didn't freeze, no programmes shut down, everything carried on as normal
I could really do without it packing up on me, this time of year is not good, lots of assignments and revision to do :-(

The laptop was probably just bored and fancied a chat. Unfortunately you didn't understand him. A little beep is the laptops way of saying hello. You just have to say Hello back and ask if its alright.
It makes it feel loved and it is content and just goes back to number crunching.
Its computer programming logistics and binary pshycology 101. :)

Any new adverts?
Does it do it on anything else?
Basically if it Beeps only on facebook then it's something todo with that.
PS - not read all the posts so sorry if the questions have been asked.
