Maybe telling my boss that I quit wasn't the most sensible thing to do.

The actual phrase I used was "I don't have to take this much **** for the pittance you pay me" I might ;) have also thrown in the word 'obnoxious' at some point as well.

TT, Tiny Terror!

Just curious, I have a habit of losing my rag and so do a few colleagues.

Maybe, but when I've been selling in the bike and car trade for the past 20 odd years, and managing sales accounts for Honda UK, Vauxhall Motors and others of that ilk - with a personal sales turnover in excess of 5 million quid a year for 10 of those years - I don't expect some 30 year old arrogant gimp (who may well be a great computer programmer but who's never done a proper bit of selling in his life) trying to tell me I don't have drive or enthusiasm.

In the past I've built my own business from scratch when I didn't have a penny to my name, to having a 200K turnover within two years, before selling out to one of my suppliers for a handsome sum. I don't need some nob like that trying to tell me how to sell.

He got told in no uncertain terms to stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

That's not a resignation, it's a grievance.

I followed up the sentence with "I quit"... that's a definite resignation.

Self employed again, I think. I was the best and worst boss I ever had, but at least I'd listen to myself and understood.

One up on me mate, I ignore everything I tell myself.

Sorry to hear this couldn't be resolved as a formal grievance but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. Too late now (I can't see you asking for your job back) so don't beat yourself up about it, you did what many people wish they could do and live with the consequences

I'd have got nowhere with any grievance proceedure, my boss was one of those arrogant "you can't tell me anything, I'm always right" sorts, so I didn't waste my time even trying. He reminded me of my father, so I knew exactly what I had to do. I left home at 16, and it was the best thing I could have done - walking out today gave me the same feeling.

Working for people like that never gets better, they just drag you down. It was going to happen sooner or later so better sooner in my book. You always come across has having pride and a lot of respect so this bloke sounds a right little ****. Better to walk away, just hope things work out well for you mate. Track day instructor??? ;-)

Rubbish. I saw you at Silverstone earlier this year. You doing it every week would bring you well up to speed and your a salesman so can initiate and question issues and guide people. And the Org would get cheap trackdays ;-)

Your a nutter, you need locking up. A loose cannon, a danger to society.

So your back to the tinkering and fixing game then? Why don't you make that your hobby job instead?

I have a nice little job for you right here. You wont get this one in the back of any of your vehicles though.

Telling a nob a few home truths that he will take no notice of is no satisfaction.Better to wait until revenge can be served cold and do him properly.

I am not sure that saying I quit and getting your coat and leaving actually constitutes handing in your notice in a legal aspect-

It may get you a disciplinary but in any event I think your employer has to write to you and call for a disciplinary meeting stating the reasons and that you can have a witness present..

if you dont attend then they can send a second letter etc etc..

but i do believe that due proces has to take place- the oneness is on your employer to dismiss you via the correct procedure or you can claim unfair dismissal.. if you have a contract- if you have no contract of employment then thats not right either and you have recourse..

He can call all the disciplinary meetings he likes, as far as I'm concerned I don't work for him any more and won't be going back until I collect my wages.

I didn't have a contract, I'd only been there 2 months and was still on probation period

Hi mate. Yes, I was in fast with K6 750. First track day of the year on a new bike, wasn't my best outing! Enjoyed watching Blue go by over and over again ;-) Got there late so was not in the SV'ers garage ;-(. Good fun though. You were on the CBR weren't you?

i was trying to be constructive in your favour pointing out that you have the upper hand if he does not act within employment law,,and probation period or not you should have a contract stipulation the probationary period and all therein.

Sorry, I appeared a bit flippant earlier.

To be honest, I doubt I'll want to take any action against them for not following disciplinary proceedures. All I want is to take what they owe me in wages and be happy I left without decking him for speaking to me in the way he did. 20 years ago I'd have put his head through the plasterboard wall for less.

What about "Constructive Dismissal" he will feel a right turd having to give your job back. You could then leave at your leisure before he gets rid of you. With a big grin and a finger to the sky.

I have no intention of going back under any circumstances. I just want to be paid and be shot of them.
