Well it has been long deserved and I do think it looks much better. I even think it looks better than fully faired on a curvy. I like to the the engine but the down pipe just needs a bit cover.

Nice, lower fairings just don't look right on any SV.

You have you Curvy's and Pointy's mixed up mate... ;)

Lovely. Thanks for the pics, I'm considering one for mine and couldn't find any Pyramid bellypan pics for the curvy... 'til now. It's curvy, like the curvy, and just looks right.

Fantastic. I think I've found (yet another) xmas pressie for myself!

That is a very nice pan, suits the bike perfect.

On the subject of fairings on sv's. Curvy's look better with a belly pan. Pointy's look better fully faired. In my opinion ;)

I put a late bid on mine and got mine for £40 plus a tenner for postage. Don't think many are being sold now so get a bargain. They are £119 everywhere else and the Pyramids look the best IMHO

Cheers, thanks for the encouragement!

The only 2 things wrong with curvy's nowadays is that they are not made new anymore and they are not FI. Other than that there is nothing better looking that a curvy, it just makes aerodynamic sense.

I wish they still made them new and FI. That's that!

What is so special about having FI, what do you consider the down points for having carbs?

This kills me - £36 to post to Dublin. You guys should be happy how good you've got it.

Plus it's the lighter of the two yellows, so doesn't suit my '99. Oh well.

I'm starting to have second thoughts now because taking electronics out of the picture can only be a simpler and better thing but I have experienced in freezing conditions like the ones from the pics I've just taken today the carbs freeze and take for ever to warm up and run properly. Somertime and anything above freezing is shear madness in a fiendish way

+1, but I'd still rather not look at a curvy if you don't mind.

Carb icing and inconsistent fuelling to name just two

Then you have to learn how to treat it, FI is for lazy owners who need everything done for them. ;)

Use Silkolene Pro FST in the winter, it will remove any sign of carb icing.

take for ever to warm up and run properly.
Takes the same time as a Pointy.

inconsistent fuelling

Never experienced any inconsistancy at all apart from a slight flat spot which happens with carbs and using low test fuel but then again I've got over 35K on the clock and it's still sweet as a nut until it ices.

I like the look of curvy's. But I prefer pointy's ;)

So what's the downside of FI

Its a pain in the ar*e to fix, its a pain in the ar*e to alter as you can't do it yourself, you get stupid 'chec' warnings which most are not applicable...

Move the carb heater sensor into the airflow, they tend to be tucked deep inside where it is warm and so do not activate.

I never even knew there was a car heater sensor or a carb heater for that matter. Where is it located?

Dangerous Dave
29-11-08, 08:13 PM
Under the tank on the right hand side...

stick it out in the air flow a bit more.

+1 on this debate. The pan looks good in blue, I've seen one of them in yellow and it was horrid......but I would say that, cause my Roca in yellow rocks:mrgreen: this pans much better in blue:cool:

It never goes wrong.

When was the last time you saw a thread that pinpointed dodgy FI as the problem with someon'es bike? Then add up all the carb problem threads... see who has more
