I was listening to Zane Lowe on Radio 1 this evening in the car coming home from work and heard his feature on Masterpiece Albums - tonight's was The Prodigy, Music For The Jilted Generation.

I'm sat here listening to it now and had forgotten just how damn good an album it is! I was only 13 or 14 when it was released but I can remember me and my mates buying it when it came out and being absolutely blown away!
Odd too that these days I'm mostly a rock/metal fan but this album still sounds as amazing as the day I first heard it.

Anyone else got any albums they revisit every now and then that have stood the test of time that well?

I've got the best of prodigy and a few other singles. Haven't got any of their albums. Might have to sort that.

I'm getting back in to the chemical brothers just now. Their songs are so brilliant. I've got all their albums and there's only two or three song I don't like

I've watched that as well, great program and it unlocked that album for me. I never really listened to it before after watching that I listened to it alot and its a genius piece of work IMHO.

The Stone Roses is another one that I always keep going back to, as is The Verve - A Northern Soul, is bl**dy under rated that album, but if you like DSOM you'll probably like that as well.

Awesome album cover!!!!

Even better once it is in the player...

States on the back of the album "Emperor play Black metal art exclusively", this was to distance themselves from the church burning, murdering neo nazis who also played in Norway at that time.

Mind you, I still bought some Burzum!

<off topic>

I used to go out with a girl who was really into her black metal... I love metal, but I don't really like the more extreme stuff, so gigs and music were always a wee bit of a niggle. Anyway, one day she called up and said she had a spare ticket for a gig, did I want to come. Usually this was a dreaded question because I'd end up spending the night standing up the back watching a band whose name was written so gothically on the posters that I couldn't even tell who they were. But this time, it was a band I liked, and I was really surprised.

So, the night came round, and she was hassling me to leave early, as she really wanted to see the support band. Fair enough. So we got to the QMU, and the crowd's obviously not a metal crowd at all. But it's not until the first band come on and turn out to be a shoegazing math rock affair that she starts to get annoyed, and ends up demanding her money back off the venue. Why? Well, on the ticket was written

Godspeed
You Black
Emperor

And she REALLY wanted to see Emperor :smt040

OK, you probably had to be there.

Sadly, I would give some ones right arm to see God Speed You Black Emperor, I love them. The track East Hastings (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=93y6aYw4mq0&feature=related) was used in the film 28 Days Later to great effect.

Mind you, I also love Neurosis (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=puG607ho7TY) and Mono (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i2ezWUjRltY). Drone metal I think they call it...

Really enjoying GYBE on You tube, may have to buy an album or two. You Tube Links with the albums is a great idea to give a tatse of what the albums are like. I'll go have a think for mine.

Some really good albums and good taste on here. Its seems to split the forum in that some rock out to metal, some prefer Indie Rock etc.

Rather than repeat stuff above, ill add

Radiohead - OK Computer.

Looks like the new Opeth (http://www.opeth.com/) album, Watershed, is set to be another classic.
New track here (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D8tXjGeScH0).

Mind you Ghost Reveries was amazing and is still one of the best albums ever. Here (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AY5LRReFYus) is a little taster.

Sure beats this (http://www.deagostini.co.uk/ilovehorses/) which I found on another site!

I am waiting for some one to post with a "I really Love Twisted Sister and their albums are just the best!"

When that happens, I may just wet myself with mirth...

Bad music (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ek1A7g824PU) does not improve with age, it just becomes more silly...
