just considering buying an xbox 360 "arcade" version i.e. no hard drive built in. Is it right that if i wanted to upgrade later I could add a hard drive? and can it be any hard drive or a "xbox hard drive"?
anyone got one of these "arcade" versions and what do they think?

sorry for the basic questions but haven't had a console since my sega Megadrive!!

thanks

may aswell just get a premium it works out more to buy arcade then the hard drive than to buy the premium with everything with it.

no problem bud i did it by buying the arcade then i bought the hard drive and then the headset and it worked out more than the premium might aswell not have bothered plus it can be a pig to find the hard drives and headset's.

they good systems though right? seen one on Marks and Spencer website and included a 2 year guarantee which i thought was pretty good.

thyre the best console for games but they have a horrible tendancy for going wrong but so do ps3's.

dont think the arcade has hdmi you may have to get an elite for that premium possibly has it check the box.

Just use the component cables. The quality is just as good.

As for them breaking - just make sure there is lots of airspace around the machine

Premium model has hdmi. Best off getting that.

The arcade version has the new "Jasper" chip that runs cooler than the old chip and should solve the blowing up problem that plagues the more expensive versions.

Also the new Dashboard now allows you to rip a game to the Hard Drive and play it from there which will save on DVD drive issues as well .......... I have had 2 360`s that went a bit blind on the DVD . My Elite also died on me with a graphics card issue and I had it replaced with a new one with the new chipset in it ....... a lot quieter machine :D

ah didn't know that. That does sort of make the hard drive version more attractive...

Hard Drive is the only way to go really , you will not regret it one tiny little bit :)
