Last night I went out for a run. It was about 8pm. I had to run on the roads because the paths were already an ice rink.
I went out this morning and it was -4. The temperature tonight has already hit -2.

The road up the hill is already a sheet of ice. Forgive me, but I have just commandeered the car from the wife for tomorrow morning.

I took the 'Blade out today (first time in weeks) and lost the back end a couple of times. Great fun but not good for the blood pressure

Bad ape:smt075.....thou shalt not use the car....is the first rule of winter riders

But then..mines been in the shed for a week or three, probably got a flat battery too
But then I don't have a car to get to work either:(
Im Indoors got the rusty crate(read lovely SRX) out of the back last night to go to work, the garden still has frozen snow all over it, I can't imagine how he got it out, and it was worse at midnight when he came home

im not riding atm as still injured and a mate has been giving me a lift to work, i must say this morning had i of been fit i think i would have had to think twice about riding...could hardly walk on the ice without falling over so a bike would be a nightmare id imagine

theres 2 bike parking bays outside, when i last rode to work when i had the crash, 6th nov, youd struggle to get ur bike in there as they were pretty full.....today...there is the grand total of.....1....a bandit, good work bandit man

No. The pain emanating from my knee this morning tells me the knee is very much not OK. :(

Well the cars traction control was working overtime trying to get up the hill this morning. I would not have stood a chance getting the bike up there. So the right decision was made. Having said that, the boss never made it into work this morning, so maybe I could have just had a lazy start and took the bike anyway. It took me twice as long as it normal does to get into work.

See it's not about wimping it. :smt019

It just isn't possible to get my bike up the hill. If I could get it up the hill and onto the main road, nothing would stop me riding to work. :)

You need not explain yourself Mr Ape, I've been to your house and you wouldn't get me riding up that hill. See, this is where you need a moto-x bike just to get up that hill in the winter. Run it by Jo and see what she says! :p

Don't see how that can be classed as a benefit when you end up working till seriously late in the evenings.

Each to their own I guess.

It was still -2 when I jumped in the car this morning. I haven't been outside since so don't know how cold it is now.

Was frosty round my way, but as I'm in town and the roads are all used regularly, it wasn't too bad- didn't really feel any slippage. But I did leave the flat at 7:45, so it wouldn't have been as bad as 6:30...

Rode home an hour from Dan's place on Sunday, it was freezing! did 120 miles round trip in it, was almost too much to bear. Not too slippy though, I did the riding in the middle of the day luckily. I will not be taking the bike to work for commuting, its not worth it.

Were those gloves any good or was it too cold to feel a difference?

My hands were just competely frozen so I couldn't possibly tell. All I know is that they weren't warm. thanks though!

I drove Mr Lou to work today, he's usually on the CG to commute.

Had a 40 - 50 mph off at the start of the freeze, I'm still as stupid as ever and still going to and from work on the bike. As long as I can keep the bike upright on the mile of ice coming out of my village then the rest of my commute is gritted A and B roads.

As I've learnt, keep out of the car tracks, keep to the centre of the road and if the bike feels like it slipping then ease off the throttle and start saying those prayers to the big man above. [-o<

BA, not harm in being a fair weather ride. Getting a power rangers suit too?? ;-)

I've put the bike away for winter, first time but feeling the cold now I'm getting old and frail

Stig

I am NOT going to be a warm weather rider. Just had to let common sense prevail.

It didn't feel as cold this morning and I was perfectly warm on the bike. I haven't even put the winter insulated liners in my textiles yet and I didn't event bother with the heated vest this evening.

I'm still toying with the idea of heated glove liners for when it does get really cold.

I've forgotten what it means to have to go outside...

My neighbour knocked tonight to find out if I'll be going to our resident's meeting tomorrow night... I was more interested in the fact that our breath steamed up in the cold as we spoke. The Tesco driver also dragged me down to open the door when he delivered my food... brrr! As did the postman delivering a package... Is it winter or something out there?

*note to self- savings will only last so long...
