Yeah, that's Plan B: We do the exact same thing as we did this year, only with a bit more polish
Oh 'eck don't tell YC, he mustn't be put off at any cost [-o<, so keep all cloths and sponges under wraps till we get there

Sorry only just found this thread...can't wait for this! Keep up the good work chaps and chapettes

Right lets get this straight. If anyone cleans my bike, I will find a big patch of mud, spin the back wheel up and splatter anything within range. I don't care whose bike gets splattered so all you clean freaks best keep each other under control!

Have to say you guys, I was mightily impressed with Lissa for clinging onto the pillion like limpet while we blasted round the Kinlochleven loop, there's more bumps and jumps on that road than straight bits. Then I stopped to wait at the end still not believing Pete and Lissa had done that two up, and who comes fleeing over a blind hump (?), but MissYC clinging onto YC for dear life! You two ladies on pillion need a bravery medal! My wife would have had the divorce papers signed before we got back to Ballahulish

That loop was f##king ace, we got stuck for one part of it behind some people who were faffing, but woohoo!

Twisty bits, then lots of bits to make wheelies really easy :-D

That is quite possibly one of the best compliments I've had in a while :-D

However one flaw. "Clinging on for dear life" would imply I was not enjoying it and desperate to get off, which couldn't be further from the truth, that road was amazing, YC and me couldn't stop grinning like a right pair of idiots the rest of the day :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Ahh, happy happy memories Ralph. :D

I'm still not sure if I'd have preferred to be on my old SV on that road though. The YC's showed how it could be done 2 up. It was hard work trying to get anywhere near the front runners, but what fun.

Roll on the hazy crazy days of summer. [-o<

yeah but what you seem to forget is that you have that giant snowplough on the back so you'll only succeed in covering the back of your reg plate.........you need a tail tidy for that one to do it proper like... ;)

What YC forgets DB is that our bikes will more than likely be filthy after all those miles anyway and a bucket of water and a sponge will bring it back to like new, whereas, if, by some fickle finger of fate, YC's bike should suddenly sprout another clean patch, it'll will take another 100 years of leaving it in a peat bog to get the same patina. :D

ok folks, here's the current situation. Not a lot of progress just now, which is entirely my fault- I can't quite get my head around planning for a summer riding trip while it's snowing, and time is slipping by me a bit. And I'll be honest, there's a lot of stuff I'd sooner be doing than riding bikes just now, which doesn't help motivation. But I will say, this doesn't jeopardise the event in the slightest, there's a rock solid plan B in place which is the only reason I'm prepared to still be messing around with major parts of the plan just now.

You can be probably 19/20ths sure that it'll be the 27th and the 28th. I have days off booked then myself for this, and that's when most people voted. That last 1/20th is the killer, since as soon as it's totally set in stone some of the interesting options go out the window. But, barring disasters that's when it's going to be. I'm very aware that people need to make plans and I don't want to leave this much longer.

But, it'd be incredibly cheeky of me to make this call, since I've not really spoken to any of the others and I can't exactly say right now, "This is where and when it'll be, by my divine commandment" today then tomorrow say "Oh, by the way guys I need someone to run the barbeque and lots of people to ride the route and time it and I need 2 ride leaders and..." So, I need to do some checking with people first. I think I know where we are, but loads of other people had suggestions last year which would have made it better.

But, provisionally the plan for this year is evolution not revolution, which means there'll be a lot of similiarities in route and in format, since that part worked well. I don't think that's presumptious of me to say so, all of the likely campsites are in the same general area and it's a great route. I said this as a joke last year but in all seriousness, we can just reverse the route and let everyone have a go the other way round, and I don't think anyone will object? So, this is plan B, and it's already good enough that it could be plan A.

So, bear with me just a little longer please!

So could I  The only reason it ran the direction it did last year is because that's the way I always do it but it's just as good the other way. Maybe better, riding up to glencoe is more dramatic.

OK, captain disorganised needs to get his thinking cap on this weekend...

For the benefit of the Hibernian contingent, we've got loads - Lake of Menteith, Pressmennan Lake, Lake Louise etc :)

Mr YC is of course asking about Loch Leven, which is technically a fjord anyway, and the loop thereof. The answer is a resounding yes!

Whats in a name its still a loch as it is scottish. You can name it what you want it will always be a loch (Loch Innis MoCholmaig). Most others are not natural bodies of water but are still lochs despite the names.
