Dumb computer question

Cos Im still having probs with me pc I was thinking of transferring files over to the kids laptop, mostly photo,s and music. Can I just transfer it over as if it was an extrenal hard drive ? also the pc is XP and the laptop is vista.

don't know being a computer retard myself, i'm assuming there is a lot of files ( too much to burn to cd or memory stick. I think you can get thingymibob designed to do just what you want (box with 2 usb's) logic suggests that if you connect the laptop to pc by USB or wifi you should be able to transfer files but I'd bet it's not that straight forward. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

assuming you have a netowrk connect both pc's to network, create a shared folder on your kids pc, enable file sharing, access folder off your pc, drag and drop

i just burn to dvd or use a memory stick.
